This little Foxy is eat up with flea's, not sure which product is best to use. what product do you use?Rumors going around flea meds is not good for dog, but neither are these fleas driving her crazy, Leo is outside but not nearly as infested.
You could dust her with diatomaceous earth. You could also spray your yard with parasitic nematodes, that are said to eat flea eggs and are non-toxic. Of course, you could move to Alaska where we don't have fleas...or raccoons...or skunks...or snakes. It does get cold here though.
I am with @Don Alaska . Get some diatomaceous earth sprinkle it into your hands or all over the fur and rub it in everywhere down to the skin. Try not to be too aggressive as you don't want to breath it in. They can lick it and it won't hurt the dogs. some people even use it as a dewormer. So you can re-apply. You don't want to vacuum it up. It is so fine, it will destroy your vacuum cleaner. But don't listen to @Don Alaska too much as they have mosquitoes that I would not want to deal with--even though we have them here.
Poodle gets fleas, but Rusty doesn’t seem to, so I think they like that Poodle is white maybe, or just because his skin is tender. Anyway, it is an issue in the warm weather, so I get one of the natural flea sprays and use that on Poodle and Rusty both ,and in their dog beds. I also use the diatomaceous earth, but I still have to bathe Poodle every few days, and I use a flea soap sometimes, and sometimes just a nice mint scented soap that I have. The spray we have is called Simple Source, and I got it from Amazon. It is about $12 for a quart, which lasts the whole season for us. It has mint in it, which the bugs do not like, just like the soap I use to bathe Poodle with, but it is safe for the dogs, no chemicals.
LOL, that is one alternative, but you also don't have millions of vines, so what could I do, chase polar bears? Thank you diatomaceous earth is exactly what my daughter told grandson to use on his place. He now has flea bites all over his bottom legs, he is doing that today. Thanks Don.
We have the D earth so between that and Simple Source we should be good, Thanks Yvonne. I'll be ordering the Simple Source later today. People were getting rats in their campers and I found one in our camper and I read that mint was a great rat deterrent too. I never tried it ,sold the camper but I am sure it would have worked.
Yeah, we do have lots of mosquitoes. I have posted about them before. Big ones overwinter and emerge in the spring, but they are slow fliers and easily dealt with. When the new ones hatch and transform, they are very fast little buggers and can really be an issue.
The best product I've used for fleas is "Advantix." Within half an hourThe cheaper products are junk.
I give my dog Simparica. I order it from CanadaPetCare. It's a lot cheaper than it is from the vet. I had a fleafestation once. I'd never want to go through that again. It cost more to get rid of the fleas than the treatment does. They get into the carpet, the chair cushions, everywhere they can hide. It's a major headache moving, dusting and spraying. Over and over. The weather here is so mild that a flea treatment is necessary to prevent inside/outside pets from getting fleas. Alaska would be a nice place to visit in the summer, but I wouldn't want to live there. It's too dark and cold most of the time.
