Yesterday a flurry of snow, temps 39. To day rain and cold But not as bad as this place. The sun will set today in Barrow, Alaska (now #Utqiaġvik) and won't rise again until January 22nd. That's 64 days with NO SUN!
Sometimes I think that would be preferable than too much Sunshine I love the seasons, because I'm always ready for the next one after a super hot Summer, or really cold Winter. Not as cold here in Oregon as Alaska though
How did you fare with the cyclone weather event, @Denise Evans ? It looked like the main part was out from Washington, but was reaching clear down into Oregon as well. I am seeing reports of lots of people in the Seattle area with no power, and that might be happening in the Portland area, too, but I haven’t seen reports from there yet. We are going into colder weather here today, but so far, the banana plant is still out there, looking great and has not been hit by frost. I even found a tiny pepper plant with a blossom on it growing in a pot out in the yard. I don’t remember planting a pepper in there, and it should have been much larger by now if I had, so why we have that 3 inch baby plant out there in that pot in November is beyond me.
All we had was a light rain that did go all day, and all last night I haven't heard from anyone on the coast, and didn't look into any of their weather reports yet. I only have one, indoor plant but it sure loves my Bay-window. I have a shot of first planting, after I let it root good in a large vase. Then I took another a little later. I'll have to look at the dates to remember how long after I took the second shot Ok, Oct. 1, I first potted the starts, and November 14, took 2 nd pic. I may have them added backwards. Well that was weird, been watching the 24/7 weather from Ryan Hall Ya'll and it just said there was a Tornado warning yesterday up in Gray's Harbor WA State! I guess on a rare occasion we've had them before in PNW.
@Tom Galty is right on with the North Slope weather and darkness. Good for you, Tom. You got the names right. I think even many of the Natives wish they had left the name alone. Above zero F., but not by much and supposed to be this way into next week.
