Not sure if I told the story of, The Reason I married my husband was --he pulled my toilet for me and fixed the problem.
I figured that was true love because I probably would not have done it for him. ( I have helped, though.)
Anyway, the night of the flood, because of age related issues, we could not replace the sump pump. We had to call a plumber in the middle of the night.
Dave felt defeated. I had the spare and he could not pull the pump because of the arthritis in his hands.
Well last night, the flush valve died in his toilet. We talked about calling a plumber and then he kept changing his mind. He went at it several times, trying different ideas as to how to get the old one out with his issues. I just let him go. My best thing is not doing anything, dontcha know.
I busied myself picking up feed and stuff. Even I have to be creative in how I do things.;)
When I got home, Dave was still upstairs and I just left him. But he came down a while later and I said, "So? How'd it go?"
    Big smile.
Hope he does not knock anyone over at his coffee group tomorrow with his swagger.

Did you get the toilet fixed @Mary Stetler? I have found that for things I can no longer do (and if I don't have a son available to do it, I can sometimes hire a handyman to perform tasks for me. I had one replace a failed water heater for me at a fraction of the cost of a plumber. Alaska has a handyman certification program that requires licensing and bonding. They are pretty good at small things like sinks, toilets, water heaters, etc., but you wouldn't use one to re-roof your house or do a lot of complicated plumbing.
