I was very frustrated at not being able to get on here and wish everyone a Merry Christmas- Happy Hanukkah !
Most hosting companies dont care about the small accounts, which, unfortunately, is why I run my sites on a VPS where I have control, now reading over some of the posts here, it looks like a combination of this is happening here; some it may be your host as I'm not sure who you're with and some of it is for sure the outdated software you have here, Xenforo on here has not been updated since 2015 so I'm guessing you're on Xenforo X1, my sites are all in Xenforo however they are current. Being older, I enjoy visiting new sites. If you need help, I can help you. There is no need to start a new site; this one can be updated very easily. Cheers
Thank you for the offer of help with the server problems, @Jay Miller , and welcome to the SOC forum ! It will be good to have someone here who also knows about forum management and how to deal with servers ! We also have a place where people can list their websites, under the announcement section of the forum, if you want to elaborate a little bit about the forums that you have. Some of us have been talking about a backup “forum home”, so you might have just what we are needing until this one can be brought up to date somehow. If people from here want to be in a backup forum home, this would help us get to yours and register there, too. (Of course, you might have to add more thread topics for us Oldsters) https://www.seniorsonly.club/forums/member-websites
Thanks for the warm welcome @Yvonne Smith Besides the two in my signature, you may want to visit our others. https://talkmh.com/ This one has an array of boards and off-topic areas.
Off Topic.com sounds like my kind of place, Welcome to the site Jay hope you stay, guess what, another song.
Welcome, Jay. You had me at "Off Topic." The cow catcher has not been invented that can stop me from derailing. That being said, among all the discussions about our hosting service, Ken's been wanting to update the Xenforo software, but things on the server side have introduced risk into trying that. You can imagine things going down (or running out of resources) in the middle of an upgrade without being able to rely on any one to help recover. Yvonne mentioned the Member Websites area. We also have an Introduction section here.
