Could this old saying be relevant to our current president elect? Trump has made at least 41 specific pledges for his first day in office, according to The Washington Post. However, other sources indicate an even more ambitious agenda, with Trump himself stating, "Your head will spin when you see what's going to happen".
It’s interesting how campaign promises often sound ambitious, but the reality of governance tends to complicate things. Trump’s bold claims, like many politicians’, raise the question of what can realistically be achieved versus what’s said to win support. Time will tell.
It only applies for those who are looking for Trump, or any President to fail. For Donald Trump, there is a truth when they say that even if he found the cure for cancer, there would be many who would find some kind of joy if one treated cancer victim out of a thousand died. In actuality, many of the initiatives that Trump has proposed are package deals such as the border security debacle e.g.: building the wall, deportation of imprisoned illegals, deportation of foreign gang members etc. Then there’s the fossil fuel problem where he wants the XL pipeline to start building again and more oil leases to be re-issued, coal mines to re-open etc. Of course then we have some initiatives that have to go before Congress so who knows when those will be approved. What I’m getting at is there are indeed many things Trump Can and probably will do on day one but some things have multiple ramifications tied to one piece of legislation so looking at the broader picture might be a better way to “see” day one and what he does manage to do. And just as an addendum, looking for Trump’s downfall is the same as looking for this country to fall. We should pray for our leaders and hope that they live up to our expectations.

Could not this large group of promises be so big, that the people will lose confidence in the president to do his job, and overwhelmingly vote him out of office to an unprecedented fall?
Dave--he can't be voted out of office, nor can he run again since this is his final term. I'm sure he won't accomplish much in the first day, but hopefully he can do some positive things during his time in office. It certainly can't be any worse than what we've had for the past 4 years.
These pot-shots that he over-promises while in fact all others under-deliver are evidence of the corrupted low-lifes that occupy the offices of "media."
