@Carol Cook , Beautiful and so sophisticated. Mine will not be so grand. Since I live in an 1870 log cabin such a modern room would not fit. I do have some very old pieces of furniture so at least I'll not need to spend any money, and being by myself, why not set up the old nursery as a dressing room. Here are a few of the pieces that will be going in there.

@Yvonne Smith , a window would give me some natural light, but that's not possible. Although my bedroom is twice the size as most masters, it only has a very small closet, I guess I sould say 'tiny'. I'm in this great big house and I had started to just live in a couple of rooms. Not good. So I decided that since I have the room I might as well live in it by expanding into the rest of the cabin.

I have had a bad habit of forgetting about clothes that were stuffed in dresser and my small closet. I would totally forget all about many of them. Now with my clothing all visible in the shelving and hanging on a 12' rod I can see everything at a glance. I will keep my night clothes and house shoes in the small bedroom closet for ease access after my shower. Now I can rotate my winter and summer clothing from the dressers to the shelves. The rocker is because I tend to loss my balance while dressing so setting is helpful.

I really like your furniture and your log cabin... it's so cool!! I agree.. now with my dressing room, all my clothes and shoes will be right at my fingertips and I won't keep grabbing the same old outfit all the time.. I will be able to see what I have and what goes together. I also won't have to do the winter/summer clothing switch and figuring out what to pack away each season. It's all going to stay put. My dressing room is right across the hall from my bathroom.. so I have only a few steps when I get out of the shower which makes it very convenient.

I still need to move the dressing table and the jewelry armoire that I refinished into the room... and as you can see hubby still has to install some molding and ceiling trim.. I want to find just the right cushions to go on the bench.. I'm thinking white, but those are hard to find.. In the meantime, I don't really need cushions.. I just need a place to sit to put on my clothes and socks and shoes.

It is turning out really nice,@Carol Cook , and with the newly refinished furniture that you just did, it will have that personal touch to everything as well.
Did you ever find the short flowers that you wanted to put along the front borders (by the hedge ?) that you were mentioning in the garden thread a while back ? While you are taking pictures, please show us how you worked that part out and what red or pink flowers you decided on for there.
I think that it is wonderful that we can all share the little things that we do around our homes that make us enjoy life better, no matter how fancy or how plain our homes are.

Yes.. I put in Dianthus.. also known as Pinks. I have a variety of reds, pinks and a combination of white/red. I bought a whole flat and the plants are tiny, but look really nice so far... thanks for asking.. I'll have to snap a pic.

As for the closet.. I am moving into it this weekend.. as soon as hubby finishes the trim. It's going to be a whole weekend project for sure. In addition to all my clothes and shoes, I have to put everything back in the dressing table and jewelry box, and all my stuff into my new chest of drawers. That means figuring out where to put what and how to arrange it. I can start using my new room next week!!

I had that happen to me before. You can edit your pictures under the 'More Options' or the 'Upload a File' feature. I forgot which one but duplicate photos can be removed.

WOW ! ! That turned out just gorgeous, @Carol Cook ! ! I love how the color blend so perfectly, and the plants add just the right touch of color and dash to the room. It looks like a room where a person would just feel at peace and be happy in there, You have done a great job planning and finishing the dressing room. And the rstored dressing table and jewelry cabinet now look like they have always been part of a matched set.

About the double pictures, if you can still edit the post, you can take out the ones which posted twice. I have accidently done that before.
Sometimes, I ended up removing all of the pictures and reposting when I couldn't get just the one that was wrong to come out by itself; but if you just go to the edit function, it should show all of them and let you delete the doubles.

I like both closets. I'd love to have one like @Carol Cook's for a craft room, it looks very organized. My clothes are scattered along the small closets in the various rooms here, it's very disorganized and confusing at times.

@Ina I. Wonder I can totally relate to wanting a window in the closet. I've had issues before with discerning among black, navy blue, and some very dark green pieces I have. Your closet looks lovely and fits in perfectly with the style of your home.
