We had a storm last night and suddenly a CRASH BOOM of thunder It was 'so' LOUD, my seat ejected me towards the ceiling - on me way I looked at Sparky who was sitting there quite content looking up at me When I landed back to me seat, I says 'You did hear that ?' Yes - says he ............ Well I've never heard a boom as loud as that one and hope I never do
I would hate to hear a roaring thunder for it terrifies Barbie, my favorite dog. She would be shaking and sometimes even urinate involuntarily. When there is a storm, what we do is to confine our dogs in a bedroom with loud music to deaden the sound of the pouring rain which makes them edgy maybe because of their anticipation of thunder. Pipoy, our pug, is not that scared likewise Tisoy, they are both male dogs that maybe have more resistance to the unpleasant sound. PS. In the news last night was the lightning that killed 74 in India. I was not able to watch the details on tv but it is legit news.
Roaring thunder I'm used to - this was an incredible BANG ! It really was unique I do feel sorry for pets as they have no idea what's going on I close all the curtains and tense up .............
Thunder is the sound of lighting the louder it is usually the closer the strike. We use to count from the strike to the thunder to know how far away it was. I had a cat that was bother with loud noise I would take the cat out when there was a thunder storm and keep petting all the time we were out in short order loud noise did not bother him any more.
We had a huge boom-bang like that a few weeks ago. A storm had been raging for ages with intermittent thunder and lightening. The time gap between thunder and lightening got closer and closer and then BANG-BOOM!!!! They happened at the same time and we found out the next day that lightening had struck in the forest. We were standing at an open window watching the storm and when that BANG-BOOM happened we both jumped back and grabbed onto each other. It was momentarily quite scary.
Well this is kind of embarrassing to say...but it is true and pertains to this tread. So here goes. We were visiting with my in-laws one time and there was a heavy rain storm while we were there. I made a pit stop in the bathroom and while I was sitting on the "throne" I heard that same BANG BOOM and I actually felt the "throne" move. I was trembling when I came out of the bathroom and when I told my huband he said it sounded like lightening had hit very close to that "throne" I was sitting on. When the rain stopped he went out to check at the back of the house where the bathroom was located...and much to our surprise the pine tree that was right up against the wall that the "throne" was against...was split in two by that BANG BOOM of lightning. I know God was watching over me that day because even if I would have been dead...I would have been so embarrassed if that lightning had struck me while sitting on the "throne".
I know! But at least I lived to tell this story...if you would have seen the tree...you'd know how close a call it was to me being dethroned forever!
This morning, we had snow on the ground. Not much, but snow. Right now, it's 32 degrees outside yet we're having a thunderstorm, complete with lightning. That just seems weird to me. The rain is piling up as sleet in the yard.
We're scheduled to have rain every day for the next seven days, while temperatures are going to be only a few degrees above freezing.
That sounds very appealing to me @Ken Anderson! Sunny and warm/hot most of the year gets tiresome...especially for someone who is as light sensitive as I am. I think one of my ancestors was Dracula....not kidding. My grandfather was born in Transylvania in 1898. When it's a cloudy day my mood improves and I have more energy.
We are having a very loud thunderstorm right now. Since my desk doesn't face the window, I didn't even know it was raining until the first thunderclap came. Very loud, I thought perhaps we've been bombed. Now it's raining, windy, dark, and thundering. I'm sure there's lightning since it generally comes along with the thunder but I haven't seen any lightning yet. As long as the power stays on, I'm good.
