I caught Mika and Gigi, my two toy poodles, fighting over something today. Mika had it first and was chewing away on it when Gigi came along and tried to take it away. Knowing that Gigi is not too fond of the little rawhide chew bones and such I realized that Mika had gotten hold of something unusual. Turns out it was a honey-eucalyptus throat lozenge causing all the fuss. Who would have known? Now the next time their little doggie breath gets to be too much for me I guess I can just break out a lozenge, though I'm sure they're probably awful for the little teeth.
Honey eucalyptus lozenge. Okay, I will take note of that. Our oldest dog Tisoy has that unpleasant odor in his breath, a rotten smell. And it was like that since he was a puppy. I don't know if there is a connection but Tisoy has the worms when he was a puppy. The vet would give him medication and the worms would come out dead in the feces. But after a month, it will come back. To make the story short, Tisoy is still having regular medication, i.e. purging every 3 months. And to think that Tisoy is turning 8 years old next month, huh. The vet couldn't give a good explanation of the bad breath. The usual reason is plaque in the teeth. But Tisoy would be sedated when his teeth would be cleaned so we are against that procedure. I still have to find a vet that would tell me a logical reason why Tisoy has bad breath... and has occasional worms.
Well, Corie, I can't guarantee your Tisoy will like a honey eucalyptus lozenge, but my pups were sure fighting over one.
I will try that with my dog, he's a yorkshire terrier, and he's only 15 months, but has a bad breath, maybe it's due to the things he eats sometimes he just picks up anything off the ground outside or at home and chews on it. He's a very naughty dog.
