Although I cannot stand someone who would even think of burning an American Flag because of their wayward belief system, I do have some mixed feelings about those who "attempted" to burn the flag at the RNC.

The mixed feelings comes from not wanting to see anyone hurt or arrested because of stupidity and that mixed with someone wishing to dishonor our nations banner of freedom.
The one sweet and sour incident occurred when a group of people attempted to burn the flag using lighter fluid as the catalyst and caught themselves on fire.

In the past I have seen cops hands tied because the Supreme Court has ruled that burning the flag is not illegal, but at the RNC they found a small loophole. Incitement to riot is the charge and police are rounding up the burners using that indictment with major success.

Yeah, I saw that one too. She got busted before the flag caught on fire and was charged with the attempt to incite a riot. Communist party member so it seems. It's really a shame that some semblance of McCarthy isn't around so she would get charged with being a communist and maybe sent to lower Slobovia or something.

Well all those people so upset with living in the United States at least looked well fed. Maybe they should go talk to someone who has known real hunger or lived in a truly impoverished country.

I don't like Trump and I'm not a conservative but people like this tick me off. What they are doing means nothing really. Except acting like idiots.

When someone burns the American flag outside of a Convention where Trump is being nominated, then the message I get is that if you hate America, don't vote for Trump. When they set themselves on fire in the process, the message is that it doesn't take a lot of brains to hate America and to hate Trump.

I haven't been watching the convention or related coverage. I see a lot of news about it posted on Twitter, and also heard a little about a chase on the scanner. I think that was on the first day of the convention, and it related somehow to protestors. I realize they have the right to protest, but in all honestly, I am tired of the seemingly constant protests against everything and anything, especially considering many are paid agitators, and probably don't even believe in their supposed causes.

    Got another one! https://www.facebook.com/eheadlines/posts/1208735452504150

It seems that these folks did get the fire going and yes unfortunately the flag did get burned. But, according to the way the story is laid out, a bunch of bikers with fire extinguishers showed up and tried to put the flames out. The police pepper sprayed a bunch of folks and arrested some of the fire happy terrorists.

This time though, they didn't get arrested for inciting a riot but for starting a fire in the middle of a crowded city street. Maybe they can get them on contributing to global warming, air pollution, and being idiots also.

Oh yeah, being an idiot isn't illegal but at least they should make it a misdemeanor. Three tickets for being an idiot and it's 30 days in solitary while listening to Hillary Clinton speeches.

Cities or counties should issue a burn ban during such events. Around here if you are caught burning during a burn ban you may pay a hefty fine and be responsible for any damages.

I'm probably opening an old can of worms that has already been hashed out in this discussion group but I still would like to see defacing the American Flag considered illegal.

Burning the flag is touted as a protected form of free speech but I still think it's a real stretch.
I can say (free speech) that I would like to kill a Bald Eagle and it is considered free speech. But, even though the Bald Eagle is no longer on the endangered species list, if I killed one I would face some hefty fines and possible incarceration.
I can say that I do not like my neighbor's weeds but dern, I can't mow them down for fear of some jail time. Damaging someone else's private property is a no-no, but isn't the American Banner of Freedom one of the most revered pieces of private property which belongs to American Citizen?
If anything, at least non-citizens caught in the act of defacing an American flag should be deported.

Free Speech is one thing but acting upon those words should be placed into a totally different arena of law.
