Don, I agree, and we started fall veggies in the raised bed last week, Collards, kale, mustard greens, broccoli, lettuce.

Don, the seeds have sprouted and coming up good. Turnip, lettuce, mustard, collard broccoli all doing good so far. Sunflower seedlings gave up and laid down.
I have to transplant my banana trees soon. I sure don't feel like dealing with them though.

Foxy decided she didn't like my Rosemarry plants I'd just transplanted so she tore the pots and plants all to hell, then chewed up the lawn mower cover. Then Leo decided to tear the piping off the Heat & air pump!
Guess the first cold night here was too much for the wild destroyers!

We saved one of the plants but only found what's left of the pot of the other one.

Good thing we fenced off the fall planted raised bed, or the little pycho's would have done a number on that too. We had the AC,Heat unit fenced and one of them chewed thru the cattle fencing, wonder the mutt didn't bleed to death, but I don't see a scratch on either of them. Not sure which one did the AC-hwat because both took turns in both yards last night, this morning.
We keep them separated one in back the other in front, since Leo decided he wanted to hurt his sibling little Road Runner. She runs over him like a bullet train, He flipped over 3 times.
Pots were on the ground in GH?

We bring them indie in winter unless we heat greenhouse, which is terribly expensive, so we don't heat it unless we are growing plenty of food in it.

One of our daughters in Washington has a pineapple growing. We have tried, but the sun just isn't enough here even in winter unless we provide very strong grow lights. Too expensive.

I do understand that , even here in Florida some plants just aren't worth it.

    Good morning to all-
Well it seems that despite my best efforts to keep them out, the local deer have found their way into my fall/winter garden, so I reckon we'll be eating up the broccolli and other cole crops before the deer take them. My fall/winter potatoes look good, but we're supposed to get a light freeze tonight, so i may be digging new taters tomorrow- we'll see. And I wish you all were here right now- I would run out and pick you all a big bag of satsumas- mandarin oranges-. our trees are loaded and they are so good this year. But I can't give them away fast enough- the trees are still loaded.

And got some spring seeds in the mail yesterday- getting ready for spring already, but then, our spring down here on the Gulf Coast begins pretty early.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

    up
Wellllll we are getting a harrrrrddd freeze this weekend. I went out to pick all the broccoli and brussel sprouts that were left. The broccoli tastes a bit different as if it has already survived a good freeze but I'm eating it anyway. the brussel sprouts all looked like a rabbit had started at the bottom of ALL the stalks and worked its way up a foot or so!!!
Still got a lot after I just pulled all the stalks up and threw them in my hatchback to bring home to process. I complained to my daughter about the rabbits and she confessed it was she. She just picked what she wanted per meal. Cuts down on processing time, I guess.
I must say, I like winters and not having all the garden chores for a few months.

We always used to look forward to October when most of the processing was done and everything slowed down for winter.

We can lay around in our caves like hibernating bears--with remotes!
(except for hauling water/wood, moving snow...)

Mary, I don't have snow to deal with. but I do have lack of energy or just not giving the attention our veggies need. I used to make organic fertilizer compost but not this past year.

My daughter was just out dumping the organic fertilizer/compost on the garden this morning. All you need are rabbits with trays under the cages.;) Rabbits and sheep make non-hot manure. You can put it on gardens right away. I have plans for the sheep pen contents next year but it will take more than just a wagon.
