Tonight 60 minutes did an interesting update on their story from 2014 on tracking health and decline in people 90 years and older. They are trying to figure out why some people with markers for Alzheimer's or dementia remained clear minded with good memory and cognitive skills -- a condition only really diagnosable for certain by post mortem slices of brain matter. They don't know the answer yet, but suspect some genetic component that provides what they call resilience against the expected cognitive decline of extreme old age. Dementia is often diagnosed as Alzheimer's but there are distinct differences in the brain for those two conditions. The report tonight also claimed that 50% of children born now can be expected to live to 103 or 104. I wouldn't want to live that long. Interesting story scan.
