Already started using my two air conditioners over two months ago but this one sitting over my head in the bedroom was just full of dust and cat hair on the evaporator. I lost my old toothbrush I had used to clean the fins but I managed to clean it with water and a dry paper towel. It looks much better and I can feel a little difference in air output. The dust is terrible year round where I live so that contributes to the nastiness. I keep the filter clean every two or three days due to the cats laying under it and in the window seal. They love to lay there and sun themselves and stay cool at the same time. I keep the window cracked about 2 and a half inches so they get that warm air. One cat is the first to get up each morning and he is over at the window trying to raise the blind or what's left of it. I put my old windshield aluminum shield in and two pieces of cardboard plus Styrofoam sheets to keep the cool in at night so I don't have to keep the one air on here in the bedroom, only the fan usually and the air never cycles on but that is due to change real soon. This time I did not put any soap on the air conditioner because it took an hour last time I cleaned to get all the suds out of the fan and rpm back up to normal. If I felt better and could stand the heat I would go out and remove the outside cover and put the water hose to it but then that is not really necessary. This cat hair and dust inside is the real culprit and I will make it almost to end of summer before needing to clean again. The largest of the 3 cats lays on top of an old Dell 17 inch monitor, just barely manages to curl up on the back without sliding off. He sleeps there all day and each night. Everyone stay cool and don't let the heat get to you.........
i remember when your air conditioner went out last summer...but you got it going..yes..hope they keep going
Yes that was the larger front air in the kitchen. The property owners bought another the next day and it was delivered same day. That is the third front air in 15 years, not counting the first that already installed. They don't make them like they once did. They use all aluminum and plastic and Styrofoam. They are more efficient but have a much lower life cycle. Especially the digital ones that use the circuit boards to control everything. You can still buy the better made ones that use the old style controls but they cost more. This one here in this room is the old type and I expect it to last a few more years. It is now 3 years old I believe.
