it's beautiful when a community comes together to provide for their members with memory issues... fond memories of joe, his wife valerie fons, and all their adopted children in washington island, wi. whenever joe got disoriented there was always someone within earshot to guide him or keep him company. he's gone now but fondly remembered. velerie continues to live her storied life, having paddle across continents from the arctic to the cape horn.
