I don't follow their rules and regulations. Had 1 mammogram in my early 50's and none after that. Had no colonoscopies. Had a bad drug reaction in the 1980's and turned my thinking around big time. Trip to the ER did it. Had a botched hip replacement in 2010 and living with the damage... Started with supplements and research and healing myself all I can with supplements in the 80's and hope I can make it to my end this way. I'm 84 this summer.
Right Road to Travel. Very Good. You started learning early enough to stay on course and not be drawn back into defeat.
We don't always follow "rules and regulations", but when it comes to our health, we sure try to. Not everyone can be like you, Joy, and survive, but you did. I've been in EMS and worked for a Senior Healthcare Company and have seen what can happen to some that don't care to "follow". IOW, you're lucky!
I hear you and my daughter followed the AMA rules and regulations in her 40's in her marriage years and she's living with so much damage from following the drug pusher allopathic doc she was directed to by her ob gyn....turns out the doc she started with was pretty fresh out of medical school and building his practice, and she was one of his builders....she's barely walking from statin drugs and collapsed tendons in her feet...poor girl listened and did what the doc pushed..... She avoids docs with a passion....and works to find shoes to keep walking. I'm wondering how many have gone thru a lot of statin drug damage????? I may look here to see if a statin thread is in place.
We both take a statin for blood pressure and "so far, so good". However, when we each first got our statin, we had to quit using the first one, due to cramps we were getting. The replacement was much, much better.
I listen to my doctor but I don’t follow blindly. You can educate yourself pretty well with the internet available now. I had a former doctor who put me on a beta blocker for blood pressure and it gave me chest pains and a heartbeat in the upper 40’s per minute. I quit and told him and sought another doctor. I’m taking a statin. It’s cheap and I don’t see any side effects.
I finally got on 2 blood pressure meds about 15 yrs ago NOT statins. I just posted on Statin Damage and for one thing more and more are reducing much needed cholesterol for brain health and more are ending up in dementia. Cody, your doctor is making more money handing out statins, the blood pressure meds I take are so cheap and I even take an old one Atenolol and it's a very good BP med. And to believe your docs really care about you and your best approach to good health, think again, they are for profits before people....Unless you have one who TRULY wants to help you and not his pockets. I had a D.O. for many years who has so great, I wish he could have lived forever, he was still working PT into his 90's, he had patients who loved and trusted him, I was one.
There are so so many BP meds that docs can try on their patients, and your doc too Mr. Wilson is raking in more money with the statins. The latest more expensive drugs are NOT the best ways to go as many do find out.
Joy, just because there are those that have had trouble with doctors, that sure doesn't mean the entire population of the U.S. has had that happen. There are plenty of people that will say, "my doctor saved my life" or some other family member was saved by a doctor and/or operation.
That is so good, and I'm positive there are millions of stories like yours, The doctors in my daughter's life at a period, really did a lot of damage...We talked to a malpractice attorney, but a person has be about dead for any chance of a case. There is plenty of data on the damage and deaths from medicine and surgeries that failed and people died...or living with a lot of damage.
And some drugs might not cause a lot of harm, or any, like some possible statins, but the number of people who need to take statins for one person to benefit in their health is about sixty four - it does nothing for sixty three of them except, as always, COST MONEY. Meanwhile , the healthy way, like gse and/or diet change, helps sixty four out of sixty four it is given to/ who are taking it, and no side effects, low cost, and no addiction or pressure to take it from someone selling it.
I've been talking about Grape Seed Extract since 1995, no more allergy or sinus drugs since this wonderful grape seed extract....took Pycnogenol for a while earlier and then found G.S.E. Wonderful to NOT take sudafed and the others...
Not taking drugs that can and do cause deyhydration, seizures, liver illnesses, kidney failure, weight gain - often seen as puffiness around the face first , very noticable - heart attacks and so on ? In other words, there may be hundreds of reasons NOT to take any manmade drug that the body naturally fights against or resists and is hurt by.
Statins are anti-inflammatories that lower lipids as a side effect. I have never heard of anyone taking them for blood pressure. Perhaps you were mislead by your provider to get you to take them. The cramps are the beginning of very serious side effects of statins--rhabdomyolysis--that essentially your muscles dissolving.
