I’m getting in a bit of a panic to get rid of stuff. I just posted 4 alloy wheels from on old car I sold. Anything posted is free, just come and get it. I’ve been aware of the outfit for a while but never used it until now.
We signed a contract and put a deposit down on a new home in a retirement community. It will be finished in mid-December, our current home (of 30 years) is supposed to be ready to go on the market mid- Sept. We feel like we’re never going to make it.
Free cycle usually works good, and there are some facebook groups to give away free things also. The main thing that I have found is that someone will call , all super-duper excited to have the item; but then they can’t come right away for some reason. You can end up holding the item for days and then they finally tell you (or they don’t) that they are not coming to get it. In the mean time, you have told 30 other people that it was not available anymore. What I usually do is specify that it must be picked up right away, and that you will not hold the item (or deliver it… some people want you to do that, too !), and then take names and numbers. If the first person does not show up right away get ahold of the 2nd one, and so on.
