Luckily for me, we seldom get a "good frost" in Houston. :D

The other day, we discovered a big green pod of some sort hiding in with the morning Glory’s and the Moonflowers. I looked it up online (vine with big pod), and it is apparently a honeyvine milkweed vine. After I identified it, I remember seeing the vine, we just have never really noticed the bloom or pods before.
The pod is about 2-3 inches long and has a divide longways, kind of like a peach has.
The flowers are little white clusters, and we might not have paid much attention to them when it bloomed.

The wisteria is taking over! For a few years this vine was planted in a wooden whiskey barrel and climbed over our patio cover. When we replaced the pergola over the patio, I transplanted the wisteria in this back corner and we have been fighting with it ever since.

The Lantana is still blooming. Lantana is one of my very favorite ground covers; I love the smell.

I was out on Mum Patrol earlier and checked the yellow that I dead-headed last week. It has set a whole new crop of buds! So I should be getting more yellow blooms soon.

This was kind of cute... a few days ago my husband put new bark mulch on the beds in the backyard. Early this morning a little squirrel was racing around, digging, chattering, and looking frantic. I guess we covered up his winter stash. Oops!!

Every year we get a crop of these annoying mushroom/toadstool things. They pop up in an area where we had an old oak tree removed, and they are very annoying. This particular "cluster" is about 14" across and 7" tall.

No. I should ask my oldest son, who is a raw foodist. (The Ewell Gibbons of our family.)

Nope. And there are usually several of those "pods" scattered around the yard. They are easy to pull up so we just take a trash bag out there and remove them.

Our first flower of the spring, a beautiful daffodil. More should be blooming soon, and the hyacinths should be in blossom before long. I love the fragrance of these early spring flowers, and look forward to their coming because it is a sign that winter is getting over with for this year.

I had a lilac tree right outside my bedroom window in my old house. I loved keeping that window open.
