Did you try uploading a photo to see if it would work ? Also, you can post the photo here, and I can resize it for you and then you can post it for your avatar. If that does not work, then @Ken Anderson can upload the photo for you with his admin capabilities.
Is that the photo you want for your avatar, or are you just sharing it, @Samual Yoder ? Here it is resized to 88kb, and should upload now.
I use an iPad, and when I choose the file to upload, there is a size option; so it is easy for me. I also have a photo-editing app and that usually resizes pictures to where they work fine to upload to the forum. Here is what mine looks like.
I know I've posted a link to this site before, but I will again because it's potentially a good source for an avatar for someone who doesn't want to use their own photo on the forum. ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com creates AI images of people who do not exist in reality. Every time you refresh the page, you will be presented with a new fake photo. Copy and paste that to your desktop, then reduce it to a smaller size, and use it as an avatar. Most of the images are of fake people who look younger than fifty but if you keep refreshing the page, older images will appear eventually.
I just noticed this thread. Not meaning to butt in, but a simple method that even I can work is GIMP. All you need to do is put the image in this program, and size it to your specs.
