During my grade school and high school years, I was on a hog farm in northeastern Indiana. That one barn sure reminded me of ours and all the work that I had to do on the farm. That included, taking hot water from the house, down to the barn, breaking up the ice in the watering troughs and pouring that hot water in. Doing these things at 6:15AM in 25 degrees or lower winters. And, on top of that, walking thru knee-deep snow sometimes. Sure glad I decided not to do that for a living!
I forgot where I put this one but it in in the valley on my side of the mountain...I think that is where it is.
This is a watercress farm located in Pearl City on Oahu. It's a natural springs farm that grows watercress exclusively. Ever since I can remember there was this watercress farm called Sumida Farm. Amidst our shopping mall Pearlridge Center and Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City on the leeward side of the island is this little farm growing watercress. Pearlridge Center is in the back. From Sumida Farm facebook page an article in yelp I found says that the farm has been founded in 1928 and is still here today.( http://www.yelp.com/biz/sumida-farm-aiea) (images from http://www.threetastes.com/blog/blog_files/watercress.php images from http://www.flickr.com/photos/jnppvch/4903946116/)
