    Or a retired Vet.

Yank ‘em and get implants or a bridge.

Many get them, get them yanked out, and many don't, I did not get them that I know of. My grandgirl listened to the dentist and had them removed. If she were to do it over, she would not. What she knows now. My grandson who is 22 got them but never removed.

Here is a good article on the Whys of WISDOM teeth.... Dentists make mega bucks on this tough work, digging out teeth.. Now could be many need them yanked out but I'm believing many do not need to do it. And yes it is major major "surgery" in the mouth.

Keep all the WISDOM you have.

This is a side of the Wisdom Teeth world no one talks about.

I still have my wisdom teeth; they have never bothered me so I'll just keep 'em.

Had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth extracted at
the age of 24, all at the same time, on the same day. I
    don't miss them.

My wisdom teeth were impacted too, and I had to have them all surgically removed.

My grandgirl's were not impacted but the dentist said she should have been taking out, she believed the dentist,. They don't both you don't worry about them, keep them, they are yours...I can hear that slogan in my mind as the dentists tell the patients to get them taken out... and his cash register changing...

Two of my third molars had to be removed as they were sideways and pressing on the second molars. Two never formed at all, just empty space.

My dentist told me that with each generation, fewer people will have third molars (wisdom teeth) as they will not be needed and jaws will get smaller. We don't have to chew tough mastodon meat and raw grains any more.

Same here. For quite a while they were the only good teeth I had (without cavities). I’ve had problem teeth, lots of dental work, all my life. I still have my wisdom teeth, no major problems with them.

What are your thoughts about people having their teeth scaped by a hygienist, good for teeth or bad? Had mine done again yesterday, and to me, it seems that's dangerous and will take the enamel away from them, just curious about what y'all think?

You could probably request an ultrasonic cleaning instead. I’ve had both. My teeth are awful but never had a problem with the scraping during cleaning. All my teeth that have broken have broken top down. Not too surprising I guess since I have so many fillings on top.

Thanks, Thomas, for the reply and I will check on the ultrasonic cleaning, not sure if they do that there or not. They've changed hygenist since my last cleaning and the other one didn't seem nearly as ruff, about cleaning them as this new one is. I was thinking while she was doing it, this can't be good for your teeth, I brush two to three times a day, floss, and use water pic; so doesn't seem I would need that hard of scraping on them. Also, I've heard before that it's bad for enamel on your teeth, for them to do it. Figured someone here might know, and maybe it could help everyone. I'm sure it didn't help my B.P. being high at the time she was scraping.

I had 3 of my wisdom teeth up till age 73 when I had them pulled when I did the top and some bottom pulled. Still had 2 on top and one on bottom.

I was just reading some more about ultrasonics. This makes it sound like, with so many things, the skill of the technician is probably the biggest factor in avoiding damage and discomfort. It sounds from this like the mechanical scraping is less likely to accidentally damage the tooth. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks, Thomas, I will read about it.

After checking on it, I think they're using one of those on me too. They did that and then scaped the teeth after, I thought was some type of drill the way it sounds, but it's water used to blast away anything on teeth. Like you said live and learn. :)

This was taken about a week later and my eyes were just as black as my neck but can't find the picture of them.
It was eye tooth that perforated my sinus cavity, not common, but can happen. The blood drained down into my neck.
