One of the first places that Robin and I went to on our trip to Orlando was the Bok Gardens with the Singing Tower. It is located about 2 hours south of Orlando and sits on the highest part of Florida. Apparently, it was originally an island , thousands of years ago, when the rest of Florida was underwater. The gardens are beautiful ! They have some very interesting plants which are not seen anywhere else, and many are from endangered species. The tower itself was built by Edward Bok, who immigrated here from the Netherlands , and later became well-known as a writer, and was also the editor of Ladies Home Journal for many, many years. He built the tower and dedicated it to the American people as a tribute to this country, and the dedication was done by President Calvin Coolidge.
