It's a "Guy Thing", @Sifu Phil Bonifonte . You posted your part of the conversation inside of the "quotes box"; so it got cut off.
It is not gone, you just have to click on the box and it will show the whole post you wrote.

If you would just learn to "post outside of the box", you will not have this problem, Sifu.

Thanks, Ken and Yvonne. I tried multi-quote for the first time and it got all screwed up.

I didn't see where your reply was cut off but I do think that's a good idea for a thread "How many times have you moved?" I've only kept a journal since 1980 so I doubt I could even remember everywhere I've lived. I might start trying to write it down and see if I can remember most of them in the next few days.

With the way the internet is developing, it is killing the bookstore business. But in fairness to the good old bookstores, they have a way of fighting back with their colorful magazines and pocketbooks plus an assortment of promotions. I remember the time when my classmates and I would go to the bookstore to browse, just browse because we had no budget for pocketbooks. The last time I went to the bookstore was last month when I bought some office supplies. There's still a crowd inside and the long line to the queue. But most of the purchases were supplies and only a few have reading materials in their basket.

Luckily I live in small town America and our new and used book store is still doing a bang up business. I guess I will have to add Book Store to my list of must haves before relocating as most have said that they are hard to come by now. Each time I move I check crime rates, the location of the closest campground with water, the scent of the grocery store, the local entertainment possibilities and now the town must have a non chain book store. :)
I have three walls of my spare room covered with books on every subject under the moon. I move them often, pick them up and reread them when ever the mood strikes. If I had to list what I have the most of I would have to say Food Porn otherwise know as cookbooks. I hardly ever need a recipe but they are great inspiration for what's for dinner. :)

Ebay is a great place to find used books of any kind. some of the thrift stores, like Goodwill, have started putting their used books on ebay, and I have found several books that I wanted and couldn't find at the local thrift stores.
The thrift stores usually have a good selection; but if you are looking for a particular book, then ebay is much better way to find it.
For many of the non-fiction books, I like to have a paper copy so I can easily look things up when I want to find them, and I usually highlight anything that I think I might want to find and re-read.
For just light-reading, then getting a free book from amazon and reading it on the Kindle works perfect. I am going to put several on the kindle for my trip out to Washington State this week. I am sure we will spend a lot of time just sitting in the hospital waiting room.

I've been a used book shopper most of my working life. We have five or six In my town, maybe more. I've shopped in two of them. The ones I have shopped are no longer economical. I once shopped a book store in Archer City, Texas owned by Larry McMurtry. It was housed in four buildings and I spent most of the day there with a short break for lunch.

Bookshops have all but vanished in most of the UK I believe, certainly in my home town, we have only one chain shop, and no second hand ones. I used to spend hours browsing in bookshops, but buy from Amazon or some other online supplier these days.
