These protesters in I think it was Philidelphia? protesting "no wall" and "for" healthcare. What good is healthcare if we don't have security in our Nation.

Btw, how do all these people get the time off to protest, they said they are expecting 10,000 in this particular march. So ARE they employed? Do they want jobs? Maybe just bored. I don't see what good protesting does. There are better ways like using the American Process of getting laws passed or not??

They say they are fighting but how exactly are they fighting by holding up signs few give a darn about. I don't respect anyone that doesn't even know why they are protesting.

    @Ken Anderson
Regardless of where the politicians pull their numbers from, my off the cuff workup was within a factor two, remember. Of course, we can "afford" to build such a wall; however taking all the other "affords" that have in one way or another been rationalized away as being needed and necessary, we have mired down into a pit of red ink to the tune of trillions. Has consideratrion been given to the fact that, "what if", the wall is built as proposed, and fails to bring about desired results, or at least simply results in the need for illegals, which they will take advantage of, alternate means of entry into our country?

Aside from the commotion of commentary pro and con on this issue, I've been wondering whose labor force will be used, in view of "cheap Mexican labor", and from which side of the wall will work be carried out to erect it? If cheap builds it from the U.S. side, they will have to be deported upon completion. If built from their side, skulduggary may be employed to allow for weakened points to later allow pass-through.

The reason I discount estimates of the cost of the wall is that no details have been put forth as to the construction of the wall, so there can't possibly be any accurate estimates of the cost. Plus, no one has ever said that the wall would cover every foot of our southern border. During the campaign, Trump stated that parts of the border might be better protected using other technologies. As it is, we not only leave the border open but we have been providing water stations to allow them to pass through areas that would otherwise be impassible.

Yes, but it's not a straight-up cost because it will simply open markets to countries that don't have tariffs, as well as to U.S. growers and producers, who will now be able to compete. Plus, Mexico may elect to satisfy its debt in another manner once they become aware that he's serious.

I see it as being similar to closing the unfair advantages that U.S. policy agreements have given to China. Closing this hole so that U.S. manufacturers can compete in a fair marketplace will mean that we won't be able to get the same cheap stuff from China, but it will give other advantages.

I read somewhere that Mexico can do the same thing and it would result in a trade war.

Also read that in the long run, we'll get the money back in what it costs to take care of the illegals etc. it's going to be interesting how this all settles.

I read some comments somewhere...no more cheap Viagra, haha.

I think we have the advantage in a trade war. Currently, we buy more from Mexico than they buy from us, and much of what we buy could be easily produced or grown here.

While there is a need for some regulations, our regulations - state and federal - place U.S. growers at a huge disadvantage. For example, I know people who have the land and the desire to raise organic beef in northern Maine, but the state requires that it be inspected at the state's facilities in southern Maine, by which time it's no longer fresh when it goes to market, on top of the added expense. Yet, large factory-type beef operations are trusted to inspect their own product though the cattleman's associations.

I'm not worried, just throwing some of the things I've read or heard out there. :)

Definitely oner of the more absurd statements of belief voiced by a clueless bureaucrat. Akin to Pelosi's proclamation that "we won't know the content of the Affordable Care Act until it's passed". How much more absurd can their remarks become, and is it just possible that such unacceptable rhetoric MIGHT just explain why Trump resides now in the White House?

I did a pretty quick study on Bachman and from what I have seen, she's no dummy. She does have some pretty strong views mainly in the realm of Christianity to the extent of even wanting Halloween banned but all in all she's pretty tight.
In light of the Mexican Food statement I have found a couple of other remarks of equal value bridging upon sarcastic satire.
If Will Rogers or Samuel Clements were to be in front of the media today, I fear they would garner the same half-truth which would portray them to be as addle brained as they make Michele out to be.

Of course, there are some things I do not care about her but to tell the truth they are so insignificant that they don't really merit any real discussion on my part.

I don't know if that's the case with the Michelle Bachmann quote because I didn't hear her say it, but liberals have made much of Donald Trump by taking things that were obvious jokes and pretending that he meant them seriously, and then trying to make him sound foolish or dangerous.

What did the so called "Space" program cost us and what did we get for our big bucks? When we are finished, we will have a wall.

I was pretty impressed hearing the 3 way conversation with Fox, and the one guy on our right was from Mexico. He is trying to become a citizen of the US and has been here awhile. He looked and talked very business like, can't remember his name. He was really for all that Trump is suggesting, and he says his homeland will benefit from it. He said the President is being hit with a lot of flack down there, which sure makes sense he would be.

I think if the President of Mexico can without getting knocked off he will want to deal with the US. It just makes good sense to do that imo. Don't misunderstand, the man didn't knock his homeland, he was just stunned at some of the things Mexico is balking on. I also heard Trump was the first to bring up cancelling the meeting with the Pres. of Mexico, but he only said "maybe we should cancel". Then the President of Mexico did cancel.
