Does anyone here have either allergies, or specifically, what they believe is Mold allergies?

I was shocked to discover there is probably a lot of mold (black mold, and other types since there are many) in and around where I live.

I have every symptom mentioned of mold allergy/toxicity even. Frankly, I'm not willing to even try a doctor as they fall way short on knowledge in my area, or that take my insurance. Please don't get on the topic of insurance. I've covered all my choices, and I am stuck with what I have for insurance. So I take as many matters as I can, onto my own research online.

I have these symptoms that are not food-allergies, we can rule that out as I've been the whole gambit on that as well. Symptom list below:

    over-production of mucus in Sinuses
    hives/itching/welts
    chronic migraine
    chronic headaches
    fatigue
    dry coughing
and more I am probably forgetting right now.

I'm looking for mainly what I can do for alternative methods of fighting Mold Toxicity/allergies and so far have air-purifier (small apartment but think I'll get one more). Clean areas with mold-fighting cleaners, watch for water leaks and drying floor of water-spills, even from getting out of shower or bathtub.

I really don't want the allergy shots, but am curious if anyone has had success with those, or alternatives to prescription drugs?

    Any feedback welcome :) Denise

I have “something” which has been diagnosed as “seasonal allergic asthma”. It is like clockwork every year, starts around Oct-Nov time frame, usually lasts until sometime in January. I had thought at first it was mold outdoors from leaves starting to fall and plants dying back. More recently I’ve been thinking ragweed. Whatever it is, I can’t ignore it. My doc prescribes an albuterol inhaler and it controls it well. The one time I ignored it because of work schedules, I ended up in the hospital for 8 days with pneumonia. Best to nip it in the bud as soon as it starts up.

yeah, that's interesting because I've spent most of my years in humid, wet climates. I'm right on the coast now and the humidity is what effects me most I think. Year-round are my symptoms but no asthma now, had it til I was about 13 I think it was. I was never with out my med-haler ep mine was called back in 50s/60s.

Hope we both find some ways to get rid of allergies, people without allergies just don't know how debillitating they can be :(

@Denise Evans black mold can lead to more than allergic symptoms. You can get kits in places like Home Depot and Lowes to check for it. Some people claim the ozone air purifiers help with it. To me the only reliable test for true allergy is a blood test. I have heard even allergists say the don't use the blood test because there are too many "false negatives". That is code for "I want something I can treat with drugs or shots and make money." If you have true allergies, i.e., develop IgE antibodies the shots may help. I have known many for whom the shots seemed to lessen symptoms. If you have a "sensitivity", the shots will probably do nothing. I would get the possible black mold issue looked into first and go from there. There is even an allergy to Snow Mold.
