I got a voicemail then a letter about an agency that supposedly was given permission by my insurance to contact me about their program. After research and even reading their employment reviews ..I am mad . Vital Decisions is actually a company that helps you with decisions that need to be made in regards to your end of life! Are you friggen kidding me ? I have already called and left they a voicemail that I do not need their services. Next will call my insurance company to see if they really gave permission. Have any of you received anything like this ?
Insurance company states they do not give permission to contact people. Sent email to Vital Decisions to chew them out. I realize they offer other services..but reading reviews indicate the company really wants tovplan your final days.
Dunno. My wife and I get letters every now and then asking if we have the wherewithal to meet our final status on this earth but how they get the information concerning our age is in the air. We get phone calls all the time telling us that our vehicle is going out of warranty or that my student loan is coming up for collection but like the letters, they are sent to “file 13”. Truth is, our vehicle is out of warranty and I’ve never had a student loan and concerning the burial thing, I do not plan to go soon and if I do, I do. Isn’t it wonderful that so many folks out there are so concerned about our well being? Not!
@Bobby Cole ..ordinarily I would have just trashed- but it was specifically claiming my insurance company gave them permission to contact me- that is differnt. All the other generic type letters I just toss.
I remember our health insurance agent talking about people that turn 65 being called to ask them about signing up for Medicare supplement programs. I think that it might be Medicare who gives them the list of who is turning 65 each month, but i don’t totally remember where he said the list comes from. And during open enrollment, then just about anyone over 65 is likely to get called about changing your supplement, and that is what our agent was warning us to expect to happen. So, possibly, if this company got the age information from Medicare, then they could legitimately say that they had permission from your insurance company ?
@Yvonne Smith ....the letter specified my insurance company..which is a Medicare Advantsge plan ..but still just not right at all.
I thought it was illegal for Medicare to give out any personal information on subscribers, supplement or not. I don't know if the companies offering supplementary coverage can contract with other companies or not, but it should be covered under the same regs as Medicare.
A lot of advertising targeting seniors is deceptive. We get ads that are supposed to look like they were sent from Medicare but are actually ads for supplemental insurance or other plans, and we also get letters that our insurance or the warranty on our car is about to be canceled unless we contact the number provided, only they aren't actually from our insurance company or the warranter for our car.
