China is establishing an economic zone on Antigua in the Caribbean Sea to expand their reach close to the U.S.

They have every right to expand their influence much like the U.S. I doubt if they have ill intent. Trump viewed them as competitors and not enemies. Their system would fall apart if they could not have customers for their manufacturing sector which keeps their citizens employed and prosperous, so it makes no sense to alienate the U.S. They would shoot themselves in the foot otherwise.

They are to some extent doing exactly what the U.S. has done--surround your enemies. China has "outposts" primarily for economic purposes while the U.S. builds and staffs military bases. China's outposts often don't work out well for the host countries though.

Here is another interesting thing that I was reading this morning on Twitter. It is part of the interview between Dr. Phil and President Trump, and the screenshot I am posting from the video is a map of the places in the United States where China has bought land for agriculture and wind farms.
Super-imposed on that map are some of our US Military installations, and you can see that it appears that China is buying land close to our military bases, which makes it doubly bad.
We all were concerned that China was owning so much of the land where our food supply is grown, but now , we can see that it had a double reason,, because they are surrounding some of our important military and defense installations here.
