That's nice...my daughter always has donated a nice check to the elementary school. She was also involved with their fundraisers but don't know how involved she is in the jr and high school.

It's good when parents are involved in the schools. We've always been lucky to be in good school districts. That's not the case all the time.

I remember those days...my girls always volunteered me to be the Room Mom for their classes...and I always was happy to help. :)

Paddling exists to this day in rural Reynolds County, MO, and likely elsewhere in the Ozarks. The parents are asked to sign waivers allowing such activity. In our school, it was termed "swats". The older kids, Juniors and especially Seniors, confiding in me, revealed they regarded the Principal to be perverted. Indeed, I once observed him detaining by bodily blocking passage in the hallway, a girl bound for the Office to pick up her lunch slip. I did not see anything more inappropriate than blocking her way, which may have been "playful", but her facial expression was far from playful. One big kid, about 6 feet, told me he sought to get out of class often by committing activities calling for swats, and laughed at the Principal, as he administered them. The two of them were of equal size.

Quite an experience I had there!
