http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/201...ntion-almost-everything-you-need-know-n478736 Okay... So this is what Trump is facing now. His biggest hurdle yet to clear. Can he do it?
At the present time all of the republican candidates need 1,237 delegates to win the nod. Now, here is the breakdown as of this morning 3/16/16. Trump: 621. Needs: 516 Cruz: 396. Needs: 841 Kasich: 138. Needs: 1,099 There are only 1,134 delegates left so that means that Kasich has to take all of the rest of the 30 states by a majority of 51% in order to take the candidacy. The only thing other than a brokered convention that can effectively hurt Trump is if Cruz matches up with Kasich before the convention and even that possibility is meager at best. If a brokered convention is even in the realm of possibility there will probably be such an upheaval in the Republican Party that it will probably cease to exist in it's present state and a 3rd party will find a place to be born. Of course, all of the above is just some speculation that I found wandering around in my head this morning and I felt it best to get rid of it so I can go through the day feeling mentally healthy.
Your head and mine must have been wandering around in the same area this morning @Bobby Cole. But mine also thought about how the RNC can just decide to change the rules anytime they feel like it and "eliminate" Trump that way!
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/boehner-endorses-paul-ryan-for-president-220855?cmpid=sf It already begins...
It would seem that even if the NRC could just change the rules anytime they want to, there still must be something we the people could do to let them know we aren't going to stand for them "cheating" like this. Maybe if we "bombard" them with letters, etc. of protest...or something...they will listen. Now that American citizens are stirred up we just can't sit down and say there is nothing else we can do.
He (Paul Ryan) made it clear at a press conference that he would not run. I hope he's telling the truth. I think, with the kind of power he seems to hold, he should help do something right to correct the wrongness about this contested and brokered conventions in this case. After Trump's amazing from-his-heart speech at AIPAC, which he assured millions of listeners that HE WASN'T PANDERING WHICH THE POLITICIANS ALWAYS DO, he will do very well with very smart voters.
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/201...gy-win-potential-contested-convention-n545231 I'm glad to hear that Trump has a plan if it gets to the Convention...but will this plan work? I'm really tired of all the "mud slinging" going on and I find I just cannot watch the News every day anymore....they are so biased against Trump. Which shows that someone is controlling all these News stations...but it still makes me sick to my stomach. The more that is brought out about the unfairness of our Political System, the more I realize it needs to be bulldozed completely! If Trump is the one who can help do this...then I am all for him being elected our President. I cannot believe that "We the People" have been blind to all of this for so long...but it is obvious most of us have been. Now that our eyes are opened to what is really going on....it will be shame on us if we don't put a stop to this.
Trump has said its disgraceful and has to be stopped…the whole election process, campaigning process, media devilry, etc I'm sure if he's elected he'll do his best to change it. He has exposed so much of the deception that has spread like a cancer to silence "we the people". If he doesn't get elected he still leaves with a tremendous legacy of bringing to light what really needs to be changed. Paul Ryan, shame on him, I used to want him to run for president years ago. But now, it's just wrong for him to sabotage Trumps character when he doesn't know what he's talking about. He blamed Trump for encouraging violence at the campaign rallies. No. Trump merely said if a brokered convention caused him to lose the nomination "I think there would be riots. I have millions of people voting for me."…..That's a prediction, NOT a call to violence like Paul Ryan suggested. It doesn't mean much that Paul Ryan said he wouldn't run for President. He said he wouldn't be Speaker of the House either and 2 weeks later he says okay.
@Lara Moss You can't believe anything any of those Politicians say anymore and that is the truth. The whole Political system is so corrupt that even if there are some good people there...they are to afraid to stand up against the "system" and are basically just collecting a "paycheck" instead of representing "We the People." There will be no change if the same old, same old is elected again. In fact we will only see America slide down even further than she has. Donald Trump cannot "save us"...but he is the only one running who can help bring some of the change that is really needed in America. I am glad all the corruption, etc. is being exposed...but if we don't elect someone who is going to help stop that corruption then we just end up with more of it.
Are we going to end up with John Kasich as the Republican candidate for president no matter who the people want ? It doesn't make sense why anyone who has done as poorly as Kasich would keep on staying in the race, and he has not had much popularity the whole time. He must have money backing him somewhere because I doubt that he is getting it from regular people contributing to his campaign. The latest news is that Cruz and Kasich are teaming up to try and beat Trump, which is no surprise either. In his interview with Neil Cavuto, Gov. Kasich said that it didn't matter what the rules are because he has friends on the rules committee. He has also previously made comments that bassically said he is going to be our next president, whether we like it or not. It is looking more and more like they will block Donald Trump one way or another, whether it is legally done or not. If both Kasich and Rubio give their delagates to Cruz, he could end up as the nominee, and regardless whether or not they say he is legally able to run for president, I think they would find some way to disqualify Cruz, and leave us with Kasich. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/cruz-kasich-team-shock-stop-trump-partnership-n561431
