Back-in-the-day, although Buddy was in my top 5 artists, along with -- in no particular order -- Fats, Elvis, Chuck, and Jerry Lee, I preferred this '66 cover of Holly's original:

I'm not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but I love this cover of "Jolene." Miley is Dolly Parton's god-daughter.

I don't know how I ended up surfing into a video of her singing Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" in concert, but she is very talented. It's too bad that (like Lady Gaga) the "Look at me!" over-the-top stuff eclipses it.

In some ways she's another train-wreck created by Disney Studios.
Goodness knows what they do to young girls over there.

The article mentions the possibility involvement of Morris Levy. That guy was a mob-associated thug.

Recall reading of his dealings with other artists. Bad man.

I wasn't aware of his possible connection to Fuller.

Bob Dylan's "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" was much better by Robert Palmer, at least in my opinion. :D Palmer was gone too soon.

The industry is full of people who had long successful careers yet couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

In whose world is Rod Stewart's voice pleasing? Or Janis Joplin's?

    Mine.

Can you imagine anyone else singing Maggie May?. Or Me and Bobby McGee?

Yeah JB, their voices aren't pleasing but I think that they can at least carry a tune within their scratchiness. But Dylan -- whew! Sometimes I wonder if he only wrote the lyrics but not the melody. He's just atonal and off-key and yuck!

I can't imagine listening to it.

I call them "novelty voices." They're not good singers, but they convey a message to enough folks to earn a living.

I think you and I are going to celebrate "Offend Your Fellow Forum Members Day" together.

    Hmmmm....what about Neil Diamond?
