Sorry another typo, my condition,' whatever it is' was getting worse BEFORE I STARTED WALKING, not after.
@Marie Mallery you can get low-carb or sugar free ice cream if you have diabetes. If you have the peripheral neuropathy, try the Alpha Lipoic Acid I have recommended on other threads. Start with 600 mg and work up to 2400 mg daily in several doses to relieve neuropathy. It also seems to retard protein glycation, so your HA1C should slowly go down. Niacin as Yvonne recommended can help circulation but it can also raise your blood sugar, so be careful.
Mary, I had to look that one up. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=fcdb...cm9uaWMtcGFpbi9teW9mYXNjaWFsLXJlbGVhc2U&ntb=1
Thank you Don, but I think its the spikes since I don't take meds except 1/4 aspirin daily and Almalopine for bp. Most meds make me sick. My A1C is 6.1 I'd like it below 6 but ........ I will try that and let you know how it worked.
No it was a 7 15 years ago but I started walking and lost 40 lb.s because that metformin made me sick like pancreatitis pain which almost killed me in 1984, gallstones caused it,they called in the pastor for my last rights, I was in a coma.
What dosage of metformin/ Do you remember? @Cody Fousnaugh has said (I believe) that he is taking 2000 mg of metformin. Were you that high? I am glad to hear you have gotten things under control. I once had a similar issue with a restriction of the common bile duct. Surgery to correct it was recommended, but I refused, as the referring doc told me not to have the surgery in Alaska, as, although it was performed here, it wasn't preformed well here. He recommended that I go to Miami for surgery and I found that impractical. I have had no further problems with it though.
I think it was 500 mg and I even cut it in half and it still hurt my stomach and back. Glad you didn't get pancreatitis that is some bad stuff. Soon as they drained all the bile off my stomach that caused it they took the gallbladder out later that year. I rode a bike for years on the sandy dirt roads and trails, but after falling sold the bikes last year. I sometimes feel a slave to this diabetes.
Thanks, Mary. Sorry you couldn't get your appointment schedule worked out. I've been thinking about scheduling a MFR massage with a PT at MD Anderson. I still have some tightness across my scar tissue and where the radiation toasted my skin. Most people who have the myofacial release procedure say that it helps a lot with tightness. I wish I could learn how to do it on myself, but the areas under my arm (axilla) are difficult for me to reach.
Not when done the way the great ones do it. (John Barnes) But they are hard to come by. Eventually the improvement must be maintained but I have not gotten there yet. At least I can finally do a few exercises laying down. I went to PT before and it was impossible to do what they asked.
Mary the joiney of 1000 miles begins with a single step. forgot who said it. But even those bedridden can lift a few weights. and pray they graduate to doing it standing up
My doctor laughed when he saw the x-rays of my black foot, I had totally reset the broken bones in my toes as hubby and animals screamed and ran when I screamed with pain in doing so. I have put my stomach back together after C[section when it busted open from war \with whorehopper first Huband I had 3 kids with]'who slept in bed with his latest FLAME without changing sheets. after I had his son.'and the thunder roared. Those who give in or give up. doesn't understand the the concept of ,what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I have no patience with weak whinners.
