There are keto cook books, paleo cook books, vegetarian cook books... I am looking forward to an IBS-D cookbook by Richard Whiting!
Shirley, what about it? What's it have to do with Days Too Long. I;ve been taking it 27 yrs and I'm telling members here and on another board how beneficial Grape Seed is for colon and prostate health and MANY other health issues. You confuse me about asking about it on this thread.
IBS and Inulin Based on the observation that in IBS patients there is an alteration of gut microbiota, studies confirmed that the consumption of inulin has a beneficial effect, as it exerts a stimulatory effect on health-promoting bacteria from genus Bifidobacterium. I believe I have dealt with IBS-C and recently started taking Inulin and it' shelping me. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/ar...promoting bacteria from genus Bifidobacterium. I have Now Foods Inulin Powder and it can be found on line and health food stores. A person on another group told me about Inulin. Do your research...
Yes, I suppose that having a healthy gut and being in control of my bowels would allow me to leave the apt more often, and hence days might seem shorter. The biggest psychological problem is extreme boredom. Reduce boredom and the days MIGHT seem shorter.
In your cook book you could try to incorporate your refried beans (fat free?). I would have thought beans would make one loose. There are lots of supplements recommended on here. I would especially try GRAPEFRUIT pectin. Bifidobacterium if it came in a suppository to avoid harsh digestive juices.
Do you deal with more constipation issues than the other? I've had this issue all my life and worse since older and surgery mess and can't walk like I have all my life. What helps me: Higher doses of Vit C, Inulin, Stool Softeners, higher fiber foods, love my beans, Oxy Powder --- I try and have tried so much. Get a bag of Oat Bran and add it to soups etc...Oat Bran is high fiber. And more warm water thru the day....IMPORTANT Avoid meats (to a degree) and foods that are hard to digest. Dairy, cheeses, etc Take in Less binding foods. Sugars too Now againn I presuming your issue is SLUGGISH bowels...
No constipation issues, what-so-ever. The "D" in IBS-D stands for diarrhea. What comes out of me is exactly like paint in a can. From the time I first feel a need for the bathroom, to having an "accident" is rarely longer than 5-7 seconds. It's an unpleasant topic, but if you have ever changed the diapers of a new-born baby, then you know what my system is like.
Oh I didn't see the D Richard, but that is a tough one, being close to the toilet. . Folks with the D issue, liive on binding foods, and white rice is one I hear many eat. I guess you've worked with many things and what does your doctors tell you.
Yes, I'd forgotten to mention that white rice does help occasionally. So does applesauce but oddly NOT whole apples.
@Richard Whiting -- I saw your other thread about the water situation where you live. Do you suppose that contributes to your health issues?
Richard: Has Crohns been discounted. A friend in her later years was hit with Crohns she's had 3 colon surgeries and the last 1 was the best she said. And me, I've gotten myself out of constipation from a long life of it, but deal with fecal impaction, due to my damaged body I just can't walk much. And I am doing a lot of fiber and TRYING to take in more and more water......as it's said that is what I need to do. It's said that so many elderly are so impacted as they can't move much.......
Yes, I've wondered the same thing myself. My bowel problems started shortly after moving to Mexico. Though I do not consume any tap water, it is possible that merely washing dishes in tap water is the primary cause.
