I keep reading comment after comment on the internet about how Tesla had designed a machine that would provide free electricity worldwide and it was stopped and silenced by the big money energy companies and is still being kept hidden today.

Do any of you know what the design of Telsa's they are referring to? If they have the expertise and education they boast online, then it cannot be the "Lightening Machine."

That idea was what led to Marconi developing radio frequency communications, but the idea that usable household and industrial electrical energy could be transmitted that way has been proven false. The idea that it can be transmitted wireless with any usable amperage SAFELY is a failed idea.

I had an idea many years ago about building giant underground capacitors and connecting them to lightning rods with giant rectifiers and they would store vast amounts of electricity to be fed to the grid. The fallacy of this idea isn't hard to spot.

So what big secret and discovery did Telsa make that our genius minds working to develop clean alternative energy cannot figure out?

To date, there is no cleaner, efficient, and safer way of producing AC low loss dependable electricity 24/7 than hydro. I often think that all the energy that Old Faithful and other steam holes generate should be harnessed for electrical power.

Remember Telsa discovered AC electricity and how to use magnetic coils to produce an alternating current that could be transformed into a higher voltage for long-distance travel. DC can never do this without great losses.

    And Three Mile Island.

I guess you gotta calculate the risks in anything.

Nikola Tesla set the groundwork for widespread distribution of electric power, but George Westinghouse bought Tesla's patents for the miserly sum of one million dollars, and now
everyone's calling their power producer the "Edison Company"!

It was Thomas Edison who fought Tesla for the emergence of DC over AC, which didn't work for long distance transmission of power.

Westinghouse was the winner here, for Tesla was no businessman at all, although a great inventive Engineer.

QUESTION: How does a 1000 watt output Tesla coil light up 100 40 watt fluorescent light bulbs unwired in close proximity? Isn't this getting 4 times the original energy transmitted?

The answer is no. First, the key to this discussion is close proximity. You can run a high-powered Telsa coil in your backyard and it will not light up all the fluorescent bulbs in your neighborhood. It will light up several in close proximity.

A fluorescent bulb needs a high voltage low amperage current to ignite the gas. A Tesla coil or even a high-power radio transmitter or a high voltage power line will light a fluorescent bulb wirelessly in close proximity. Note you cannot do this with any other bulb without a direct connection. It is the concentrated encapsulated gas being ignited (causing the phosphorus coating to glow) by a high AC voltage that results in light. This is done wireless with electromagnetic energy, the same energy used to make radio transmissions.

This is how the Tesla coil does it. Since no direct connection to the fluorescent bulbs, they depend on the super high voltage transmitted magnetically to ignite the ENCLOSED gas. Tesla invented the basis for radio magnetic wave transmission. Think of ONE 1,000 watt shortwave transmitter that can power 1 trillion crystal sets worldwide. They don't depend on any wired current. The AC electromagnetic energy received is tuned to frequency by a coil and then rectified by the quartz crystal that causes current to flow in the magnetic headphones that actuates a thin metal diaphragm that produces the same sounds originally transmitted. This all happens in microseconds.

The point to think about is the number of crystal sets is irrelevant. They don't drag down the signal as if it is a wired connection. Now let's consider the early vacuum tube radios. They might use a crystal detector but the amplification of either the RF or audio requires a power source to power the vacuum tubes. Think of the early transistor radios that used a crystal detector and a transistor audio amplifier. They required a battery. Then transistor RF and IF stages were added to amplify that electromagnetic signal that traveled magically through the air. They required a bigger battery, IE, more wattage to power. They required an electrical source of their own to work with more selectivity and audio power. The crystal set that required no power source but the transmitted radio wave was replaced with tube models that for a small tabletop drew 50 watts of AC power. So now if 1000 mamas are doing house chores and a little boogie-woogie to the little kitchen AM tabletop radio for 5 hours, they just burned .25 kilowatts hours of electricity. What was once no skin off the AC line power sources, has now added a higher demand. Then think about the electrical appliances and the demand they required.

Big daddy, being the penny-pinching miser he was, inventor, and pioneer of the green old deal replaces the gas motor on the wringer washer with an electric one and attaches it to a lightning rod. Mama will do laundry when lightning strikes and it will cost nothing. The first lightning storm and the washer is a heap of twisted burnt steel and mama has lost her hearing and has less hair left than a newborn Chihuahua. While her deafness saves on the radio current draw, her Valentine's gift of new matching avocado green indoor appliances has increased the family electrical usage 100 fold. The old man takes on a second job to bring in some green in repentance for his past failed green new inventions.

So nothing that Tesla invented and made work is being silenced. His proven ideas are being used every day in our modern technology. The power requirements for household electricity require a direct connection capable of handling the voltage and amperage drawn. The idea of transmitting megawatt electricity for industrial and household use, wireless is impossible. Such an enormous amount of electromagnetic energy would be like continual lightening, but be horizontal and destroy everything in its path. Life, as we know it on earth, would cease to exist.

    The Madness of Tesla's Brilliance

In 1893, Tesla patented a steam-powered mechanical oscillator that would vibrate up and down at high speeds to generate electricity. Years after patenting his invention he told reporters that one day while attempting to tune his mechanical oscillator to the vibration of the building housing his New York City laboratory, he caused the ground to shake. During the test, Tesla continuously turned up the power and heard cracking sounds. “Suddenly,” he recalled, “all the heavy machinery in the place was flying around. I grabbed a hammer and broke the machine. The building would have been down about our ears in another few minutes.” Police and ambulances arrived on the scene to attend to the commotion, but Tesla told his assistants to remain quiet and tell the police that it must have been an earthquake.

@Susan Paynter Tesla was perhaps the catalyst for the invention of the quartz crystal to vibrate at a certain frequency when an electrical current was applied. I think the thing to remember when discussing Tesla is he thought on a large scale and while such grand experiments failed, they led to others inventing the basics of modern technology. The lightning and earthquake machine led to wireless communications IE electromagnetic transmission at a given frequency.

A good example would be comparing a nuclear bomb to nuclear medicine. On a large scale, nuclear power can be destructive perhaps destroying the entire planet, but on a very small highly controlled scale, it can be life-saving.

Faye, no doubt about it, he was a smart man, but some of his brilliant inventions and discoveries did not come to fruition and he did not get the recognition he deserved, because he was in too many places at the same time and others used his ideas, one at a time, with success.

The "Special Project" that Tesla had envisioned and was erecting in 1901-1917 was called the "Wardenclyffe Tower", which consisted of a Tesla Coil with a secondary "booster" which Nikola called a "Magnifying Transformer". It never came to fruition.

Financier J.P. Morgan, who had been funding all of Tesla's "dream projects", cut him off without a cent when he thought that "Worldwide Transmission of Electric Power" was just "Pie in the Sky", and not profitable. Electromagnetic Energy can be transmitted through space, but not electric power in bulk kilowatts.

I have books and 2 movies on Tesla's scientific career. He died penniless, with Westinghouse rolling in the wealth that Tesla's patents brought. See "Wardenclyffe Tower: the Dream that Sank Tesla"

Tesla was to far ahead of his time but even his genius to-day would be bought out or he would be killed. His Wardenclyffe Tower got stopped because you could not put a meter on it. The Financier J.P. Morgan had a lot of money in copper and you would not need electrical lines with that tech. He also had a car powered by electricity he took out of the air. When he died the FBI swoop in to grab all the paper also they called Donald Trumps uncle to look at those papers. He had free energy technology and for normal people it has been hidden no money in it. I hope that the free energy gets released soon but the money people are fighting it. There has also been some great break through and people either get bough off or die.

In Texas , (ironic?), they demonstrated over 10 to 20 blocks in a city the Tesla - type use of electicity and it worked perfect.

If they had gone that way, instead of chinese windbags... er windmills, Texas would be doing better than any other state in the union (if there is still a union).

Just saw this after posting above. Correct - Ben Franklin, with greed and corruption, got the funding. Tesla showed how to give everyone free electricity, or at a cost of something equivalent to $20.00 (TODAY) per household.

Others have also shown how to do this, basically 3 cents per kilowatt hour and not dependent on a corporation, and the same way Tesla was dealt with, they were dealt with. (silenced). (Even though ggggle and ebay or amazon bought multimillion dollar powerplants that are better than wind, hydro, or fossilized methods... this was shown on nationwide shows similar to sixty minutes less than a decade ago... then silenced all of a sudden ... hmmm... see a trend ? )
