Yes, I've also heard of Caviar and Sushi, but I don't eat hat either.
Although all bets are off if I get really hungry.

Ants are one thing. Eating roaches is a whole different ball game!

I ate roasted grubs and lemon ants in the Amazon basin. The roasted grubs were tasty. The lemon ants? Well, they were "lemony" and that's about all I can say about them.

When we had our Cajun Buffet restaurant in north Idaho. Bobby ordered alligator and we had it as a special. People up there had pretty much never heard about eating alligator, and it was a great hit with people.
One family that came every week with their kids, asked Bobby if he could serve alligator and that was why he ordered it. The boys went back to school the next week and told about their alligator experience for the show and tell story.

I only had gator tail once in a Miami area restaurant. It was shortly after gator hunting was made legal again, and the meat was terrible. It was very tough and stringy. I have never tried it again fearing a repeat of the experience. I have had snake, frog, ants, bees, grasshoppers, and snails...and maybe some other stuff. When I was in the Orient, I ate a number of things I couldn't identify. Same thing in the Amazon Basin.

The one that we had was delicious, tender and juicy; but @Bobby Cole is from Louisiana, so he knew how to cook it properly. It tasted to me like a mix between pork and chicken. Bobby will have to explain what he did that made it turn out better than the one you tried, @Don Alaska . You would think that a restaurant that was going to serve alligator would have a chef that knew how to cook it properly !

My only thought was that it was a new product at that time and the tail might have been form an older animal. It was at a rather high class restaurant at a country club outside Miami.
