How many cars did you have? Do you give your car a name? Our first car was a dilapidated Gemini. We named it Jamie to synch with the sound of the maker. Even if the roof had a leak, we were so proud of our first car. Our second car came 2 years after we sold our first car. And this time it was a 2-year old Honda Civic which was so popular at that time. We named it Pogi which is the slang for handsome. We got Pogi in 1996 and was with us until 2013 when it was nearing to be a senior citizen. In 2013, we bought our first brand new car - a Ford Escape. It is an SUV so we named it Macho. After several months, I learned to drive and bought my own small car, the people's car of Mitsubishi. We gave Mirage the name Cutie. So they are partners now - the big Macho and the small cutie.
Hehe @Ike Willis , I think your keyboard keys are sticking.... I couldn't read part of your post! NOOO! Don't clarify... I'll use my imagination!
I have named my cars, especially when they were ones that I really liked, or they had some unique quality. My mom named some of their cars, too; so I guess I can say it is a family tradition. My dad had an old 1964 IH Scout, and Mom even had a little song that went with it, whcih she would sing to my kids when we rode along with them in the Scout. Part of it was something like "Ollie Ollie outa, ride in Grandpa's Scout-a", and she had several verses that she would sing and the kids loved to hear. After my dad passed away , Ollie became mine, and then my son's; so we had it in the family for a long time. Robin also names her cars, and now she even has a motorhome, and it is named "Grimmie" after the television show Grimm (fairy tales).
No, have never named any of my cars....don't become attached to them at all. They are just a means of transportation for me.
I've had more cars than I can count, and I've never named any of them However my husband has a Vintage VW camper van which he rebuilt from scratch..he calls it Thomas...
My daughter always named our cars when she was younger. Let's see, there was Wheels, Brown Car (when she was VERY young hehe), Yellow Jacket (coolest yellow Nova in the world!), and CARina. The last two haven't been bestowed with names because she outgrew it long ago!
Oh, @Holly Saunders , do you have pictures ? I have always just loved the VW buses, and especially the camper bus, and I had one many years ago. And yes (naturally), the camper bus had a name. I named it Hildegarde, since that was a German name, and also my mother's name (which she hated and never used after she grew up). I just read that VW is maybe coming out with a new version of the classic old camper bus, and this one would be electric, so it could simply be plugged in to charge when needed. I imagine that it also would have many updates and amenities from the old ones, as well; but it is supposed to still have the classic appearance with the big V-shape outline on the nose. At this point, the camper seems to be just a rumor, although they are supposed to be releasing an electric VW this year. http://www.theplaidzebra.com/volksw...ones-favourite-hippy-vanbut-now-its-electric/
Wow Yvonne...I never heard about the possibility of an electric VW camper...blimey I'm just thinking it would need an awful lot of charging stations to keep that baby running on a long journey... Thomas is 45 years old now...hubs bought him in the mid 80's and he was a standard Bay sit up and beg blue....in a bit of a state tbh.. Hubs renovated him completely in the 90's , from the bottom up...lowered the suspension, blackened the windows, new dual weber Carbs etc Re-upholstered all the inside..and had the whole bus resprayed Red... Funny thing is, hubs also has a very expensive Top of the range sports car..but he's never named it...
