I think that not all of the Medicare insurance companies offer the in-house doctor visits, @Jenna Parnellson . Somewhere in this thread, Joy mentioned the name of her insurance company, but it is not one that I have heard of before. We have Devoted Health advantage plan, and they call and do the virtual doctor visits, but as far as I know, they do not send one of the doctors for a home visit and lab work like Joy’s plan covers. When we had Humana, they send a visiting doctor about one time each year, but it was just kind of an observational visit, and not any kind of labs were done.
Ah, okay. So this was likely an additional insurance plan rather than Medicare. Thanks for explaining!
I just looked to see what Joy actually said, and in the very first post in this thread, she said it is a medical group that she found, and they take medicare. So it is a doctors group that makes house calls, like a concierge doctor. If you are interested, what you would need to do is research doctors in your area who make home visits for people who are unable to get to a doctor’s office or clinic. I am pretty sure that I have seen this kind of service offered here in Alabama, and Bobby knows one of the doctors who does that because we go to the same fitness center as many of the doctors use.
This is a national company that provides home doctor visits. https://www.dispatchhealth.com/ They are on Facebook too. I used them 2 years ago after a fall. They sent a doctor with a nurse within a couple of hours after calling them. Then they sent an x-ray tech with a portable machine. They are like an urgent care that comes to your home and I could not have been happier with the service they provided. They accept insurance. There may be other companies that do the same thing.
