He played a great role as Robin Hood, but I also like Kevin Costner as Robin Hood.

Liked all of his films - a likeable fella
Liked his co-star too (in many films) Olivia De Haviland

@Don Alaska - if you're correct - what an idiot
He sure had a lot of faults did Flynn, immaturity for sure, but likeable, (in his films) yes

He was born in Tasmania, and an early occupation was "dagging" sheep, and I don't think anyone would want to do this, especially with his TEETH!

Yes, that's what I meant by 'immature' - besides what you say above, he was a drunk and womaniser - not much good to say about him
except that he put on a good show in his films
He wasn't alone of course, a lot of 'stars' seem to stand still in the 'maturity stakes' once they hit the big time
There are rare exceptions and the one that springs to the top is the lovely Jimmy Stewart

We must remember that they are all acting a part. It reminds me of a remark Kirk Douglas made to John Wayne.

John Wayne "upbraided star Kirk Douglas for playing the part of Vincent van Gogh like a 'weak queer.'"
"How can you play a part like that? There’s so few of us left. We got to play strong, tough characters," Wayne said.
“It’s all make-believe, John,” a dumbfounded Douglas replied. “It isn’t real. You’re not really John Wayne, you know.”o_O

Regardless of how you felt about Errol...if you were "In Like Flynn", you had it made in whatever type of conquest you were aiming for!

In Errol Flynn's autobiography "My Wicked Wicked Ways", he tells the story as a child on the family farm in Tasmania of how he "strung" six ducks together using a long string with a piece of fatty pork tied to one end and showed them off walking around as a "chain of ducks"

My words exactly. Often got panned for his dramatic roles. I reckoned he was a pretty decent actor. Did Hollywood spoil him?

There is a new film out of Errol's early days in Oz and PNG. Kinda Indiana Jones type character in those days.

He had that special quality, I loved the film where he played a famous boxer but its too early to recall the title
Did Hollywood spoil him ? - He was just too darn handsome with oodles of charm - Spoilt rotten :p

EDIT - I remember - 'Gentleman Jim' was the film
