This has been something that has been discussed as to how it applied to seniors for the most part; but very seldom has euthanasia been thought of in respect to euthanizing young children with fatal illnesses. When it comes to the elderly, there are two different aspects, with one side being the right to die, so that a person who has a terminal illness can choose to end it, rather than prolonged suffering. The other side of that coin, is that we do not want to end up in a world like that in the movie "Soylent Green", where people were routinely put to death at a certain age, regardless of their health. This was, in fact, one of the most contested issues when Obama came out with his health plan; because it did give doctors the right to decide whether a person should be treated for an illness, or just medicated until they die. Obama was definitely in favor of not treating elderly patients, except to give them pain medication, and just let them die. Now, we have the possibility of children who are born with birth defects being euthanized, as well as the ones whith a terminal illness. This is one of those things that seems to have no good answer. On one hand, there is no reason to prolong needless suffering in a person of any age; but on the other hand, once the government can decide who does and does not die, then we get into a really scary area. http://www.lifenews.com/2016/09/19/...asure-allowing-doctors-to-euthanize-children/
That was one of the first steps that the Nazis took in the 1930s, even before they began exterminating the Jewish population.
I wonder why that proposed euthanasia is for children only. Is it because children couldn't fully express themselves? Maybe the main issue against euthanasia is the permanent result. When the person's life is ended, it cannot be returned to life anymore. But I guess it's about time that we place a serious thinking on euthanasia. My mother is in a vegetable state, she cannot talk, she cannot move by herself, she needed to be fed. Sometimes I wonder if ending her misery would be the best for her because I also wonder if she is still aware of what's around her. Can she taste her food? Is her laugh due to the emotion or just a reflex action? There are times that I do not want to think of her because of her pitiful condition. And to think that she can never improve anymore then euthanasia may be the better option.
Euthanasia, for the new-born is just the next evil step from abortion. These children have no voice or advocate.
Used to be, children were considered precious and kept as safe as possible. Now, children as well as old folks and the sick, are viewed more and more as throw away people. It's not a pleasant society to have to live in. Maybe, if we reversed all the killing, like abortion, euthanasia and other death programs, world problems would improve. But, no one is willing to try. It's far easier to try to kill our way out of our problems.
