I suppose it's all a matter of taste, but I really enjoyed the following. 1.) The Darkest Hour. A true story of Winston Churchill and the days/weeks following his being selected as Prime Minister (May 10th, 1940) . A time when Nazi Germany over ran France. 2.) The Imitation Game. Another true story of England's attempt to decrypt Nazi Germany's "unbreakable" secret code machine. 3.) Open Range. A western starring Keven Costner and Robert Duvall. 4.) Crossfire Trail. Another western.
I haven't seen any of them, although I like Westerns and have seen other movies and documentaries about the decrypting Germany's code machines.
The Darkest Hour is fantastic. The actor who played Churchill really made me believe I was watching the REAL Churchill.
Is that the movie where there is a Churchill double who gets assassinated, and the Germans think they got the real guy?
No. You may be thinking of The Eagle Has Landed. The film, The Darkest Hour, takes place during Churchill's 1st few weeks as Prime Minister when the German's have overrun France and now the entire British European Army is trapped at Dunkirk and all 350,000 of them may be wiped out. In the meantime, many of the British War cabinet want to negotiate with the Nazis. Churchill refuses to yield, and through his greatest speeches he rallies England to fight to the last.
Open Range was REALLY good! If you like sorta realistic stories set in the west, this is quite different and good: Meek's Cutoff https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meek's_Cutoff_(film) I don't recall much in the way of violence. There are definite threats, but not graphic stuff as I recall.
No, it's the one where Churchill gets assassinated twice, and the Nazis reconsider the Final Solution, deciding instead to gas the Vienna Boys' Choir.
We liked Top Gun "Maverick" so much, when we seen it at local theater, we bought it in Blu-Ray. We also like Last Vegas, with 4 veteran actors and hilarious as heck. Weekend At Bernie's and some other comedy movies we have. My wife loves Last Stand with Arnold as sheriff. Risen and The Shack are top-notch religious movies we have.
