Years ago, dissent raging, no different than today, a "sage" wrote, "Government power over American Citizens ought to be limited to the decision of which intersections must employ traffic signals".

It was humorous then, yes, but did he perhaps see what was coming?

Consider the wars which raged over and ravaged Europe, I and II. Drawn into all this were African countries, largely unable to cope, much less fight, the Far East, far South, Australia and the Philippines.

Small, and unperturbed, Switzerland stayed out of the horrible fights. HOW? Surely they possessed "strategic location, strategic minerals, strategic manpower capable of fighting, who knows what all else would have appealed to both sides. Yet, Switzerland stayed out. HOW? Why had they not feared being overrun by Nazis, or the French, er,......strike that, or the Brits, etc.?

They mined all the roads entering their country; I saw the pocked pavement there in 1972, when my wife & I entered Switzerland from the north. Thousands of mines had been implanted beneath roadways, later removed, leaving those round patches as identifiers.

How did they survive it, without influx of food, supplies, produce, commerce in general? WTH did THEY know then, that we all still DO NOT?

Neutrality. I heard this from childhood on. I still do not understand, why America just could not await the arrival at it's shores, and skies, of Axis invasion, or Japanese, and having prepared, as did the Swiss, simply shoot them down, or sink them, using the necessary repulsive force. What am I missing? Was WAR a necessary constituent of human existence, back in 1914 and the 1930s??

The media pumped the minds full of lies about the terrible enemy and we better get them before they get here. The people fell for it even in Iraq he had weapons of mass destruction which in no way could have affected the Americas. The media jumped on the band wagon and spud out lies and off to war they go like lemmings convince them and they keep on running off the cliff. If they want to go after fake news they only need to look at main street media.
