I was just commenting with another forum friend that I am bored with Facebook and check it only once or twice a month lately. Now I'm wondering if more of you are disillusioned, loving it or never used it. What are your thoughts and experiences? What was that other popular place called, the one with "walls" ?
I feel so alone in the world .... I never joined Facebook. .. Everyone I know has an account! I'm waiting for the next great thing to come along ...lol . then maybe I'll join.
I've never really bothered using Facebook much when it comes to posting myself. VERY rarely "share" things on there... I truly dislike that. But on the other side of the coin, I *do* use it heavily to keep up with siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews... a few old school friends, and some of my work colleagues. I read but rarely write there.
I never posted anything much either, but I used to like seeing friends updates. However for quite awhile now, all they seem to do is copy other people's stuff and send it to me, people I never heard of. Having just a tiny family myself, all local, for me it's pretty much useless. But if you have lots of family and far, I guess it's great.
I wouldn't touch them with the proverbial bargepole. Another vast multinational that turns billions of profit and paid a whopping £4,000 in Corporation Tax in the UK last year, despite doing huge amounts of business in this country. Just like Google and Amazon, they like to portray themselves as a force for good when the reality is that they're just another cynical bunch of tax dodgers.
I'm on Facebook, mainly because I see pics of family or some old friends. I look a few times a day, don't post much though myself. Are you talking about MySpace, Ruby?
Oh, that's right Chrissy, My Space! I never had it but I remember hearing about it. Is it still active or did Facebook take its place? There is one thing I like to check on FB is the old photos people post of the city I grew up in. I'm veyr nostalgic. You know those sites that start... "You know your from......."
Oh yes...I've seen them. I was on MySpace but don't know for sure if it still exists. A search will take you there if you google someone who was a member but that's all I can do because I don't remember my name or anything on there. There were a few similar sites to My Space...Tagged was one I was on and can't remember the other one.
I'm facebook friends with a few people on here and I will usually Like their posts, sometimes I make a comment but I tend not to share things.
I use Facebook a lot. Through Facebook, I have been able to keep up with relatives, former students, co-workers, friends, and people whom I've been associated with politically throughout the country, and in other countries. I also learn more real news through people on Facebook than from the more organized media. So yes, I am there a lot. I am thinking about changing my Facebook posting habits to get away from politics though. I spend a lot of time on political posts and no one ever changes their mind about any of the issues, but I have changed my mind about some of the people over these same issues, so I am thinking I am going to de-politicize my Facebook page.
Since I have friends on both side of the aisle on FB, I don't ever talk politics and will seldom like something that's political. Religion is another thing I avoid.
I really enjoy Facebook ! I only have friends that are people I really care about, as opposed to those people who seem to have 300 friends on there. I guess that is okay if you are the pastor of a large church, or something similar to that; but other wise......who has 300 friends ? I have family that mostly lives out west; so except for my daughter , I do not see any of them, and Facebook is my way of keeping up to date with them. Since I grew up in Idaho, and lived most of my life out that direction, I still have a lot of other friends that I like to keep in touch with. I do not like getting all of the passed-around jokes and pictures, etc, every day; so I unfollow most everyone except my kids, and that way, I can look at their page and read it without having my own page cluttered up with recipes and jokes that I have very little interest in. I also belong to several Facebook groups that are about things that I enjoy, such as the Extreme Aerogarden group, and one called Old School North Idaho, that has some awesome old pictures about north Idaho in the early parts of the 1900's, and up through today. Being the fringe-conspiracy theorist that I am , I also belong to several of those kinds of groups, and flat earth, naturally. I do not post a lot of things, and I do share sometimes; but not everything that comes along, only thing that I think other people might really enjoy, and that I liked a lot.
