This not actually a prescription but it was one topic in a gathering where a doctor said about pent up emotions that can cause heart attack. It is better to have an outburst so you can release the heat from inside. However, the outburst should be controlled because a flare up may lead to an attack, be it a stroke or heart attack. So maybe that is the reason why there are grumpy old men or women that sometimes we couldn't understand why they are easily annoyed. Maybe they just want an outlet for their pent up emotion.
Neither building up steam or blowing off steam, is healthy for humans. Those are tasks best left for water heaters & boilers. The difference between a reaction and a response, is that our response is a controlled one. Easier said than done, for sure!
Good advice Joe - I've been known to blow me top, I've been known to harbour me feelings too Both no good - life's hard, and no mistake
Oh I'm the same...regularly blew my stack when I was younger..typical aries. Quick temper, but it was over in five minutes...but as I've got older, I rarely lose my temper, in fact I can't remember the last time despite much provocation at times, and I have to tell you , since reigning my temper in I've suffered from lots of stress related ailments of which I never had a problem with when I let my frustrations and anger out..
@Holly Saunders - Same here I think things through now and if I decide that person doesn't deserve me time, I won't give it - I walk away for good
I only get sensible answers when I talk to myself. I answer myself in a different voice. It drives people around me nuts.
@Ike Willis - sometimes we need a good telling off, I'll have to try your technique and answer meself as Bette !
I sometimes get upset at things, including at what my wife can say or do. But, the lady sure has a way of calming me down and the next three things are: "Sorry, I love you" that includes a hug and kiss. I will sometimes, but definitely not very often, include the "F" bomb, but then will apologize for using it. Wife can get annoyed at me as well, but the same reaction results afterwards........"Sorry, I love you" with that hug and kiss. My ex-wife was an Aries and what a temper she could have. I've often said that she could take on Muhammad Ali in the ring and win. After she left me, and continued seeing the dude she met while we were still together, I found out that she got mad at him and torn his wall phone off of the wall. Somehow the dude had my phone number, called me, told me about what she had done and I said........"she's yours now" and hung up.
LOL Cody...I have a quick temper , (not so much now) but unlike your ex wife, not a bad temper..I have never thrown anything at anyone or pulled anything off a wall in my life.. in anger!!
