When we go on a trip of more than 3 hours, we usually bring food and drinks unless there is a favorite eating place along the way. These are the food and drinks that we would consume while the car is moving. We never fail to have a cooler that has water, soda and juice to quench our thirst. For food, sometimes we bring boiled eggs or sandwiches. When we went on a 6-hour trip to Baguio City for a brief vacation, we were fully armed with food and drinks. A long stretch of the road in one province caused a heavy track due to the widening of that road. The trip had an added 6 hours, huh, that made 12 hours of travel time. What if we didn't bring any food?
To avoid the high cost of food on the road when traveling we also pack food. We found that it is best to have each person pack their own bag of goodies and drinks. It works out very well, we have fruit, cookies, drinks and sandwiches. We stop at one of the rest places stretch legs go to the bathroom and eat.
We don't take anything when it's just a driving trip (not overnight). When it's overnight, we pack up a medium and big size cooler to take. Chips, hard boiled eggs, carrot/celery sticks, peanuts, a sandwich for each of us, peanut butter crackers and a case of Bud Light. Sometimes will also bring a pint of Jose Cuervo and shot glasses. We divide the trip in both eating out and eating in our room. We generally get a motel that has a breakfast.
Good idea for when you go on a trip that you bring food & drinks. You just never know when you might come across some emergencies or changes. I'll keep in mind for the next time when I travel to have some emergency food and drinks at hand.
