Here is my concept of God: In concept God is first and foremost the creator and operator of the universe and man and everything with a beginning. With this concept as some kind of a guide, we can already proceed to search for all instances of causation in the world; as we encounter instances of causation, these instances of causation are evidence of the presence of God, doing His work of creation and operation of the universe and man and everything with a beginning.
I was born and raised a Catholic and I was schooled in a Catholic school. But honestly, I cannot fathom the very idea of God that He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. And with the question of @Sheldon Scott about what God was doing before He created us, well, maybe God was also busy with other things that we wouldn't understand because we are only humans. But amid my ignorance of God's personality and being, I am thankful for this life that was given me and the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful world.
Well, I was no different of those people who accept usually without question what i was taught from childhood. It has become human nature for people to stubbornly refuse to believe what they are unwilling to understand . But the precious truths of God are revealed and come from God and not thought out by man. The Bible recorded all those cases that showed that the initiative comes from God. Do the living know what God was doing before He created us? That question is a mystery not explained by higher education nor science. The Bible reveals that God the Father creates all things and He "created all things by Jesus Christ."
That is really very edifying, dear everyone who wrote here, thanks. I was a Catholic and very faithful, but then I got tired and decided to see God and Jesus and Mary and Joseph and all the saints and angels, and my dearly beloved but departed wife in a greater ambit than within the Catholic Church. So now I pray all the time to God and all the heavenly hosts, including my dearly beloved but departed wife, addressing them all thus (with of course God at the head): "Oh God, creator and operator of the universe and man and everything with a beginning, I thank you that I am still alive and healthy and active. Please give me a wife, for I am lonely; my dearly beloved wife passed away in bed beside me, that was over six years ago." Well. so far God has not given me a wife. Jesus tells us to feed the hungry, visit the sick, and bury the dead, for love i.e. charity. Dear Jesus, what about for charity? shouldn't your followers be on alert to marry a fellow brother or sister living in loneliness, for charity, i.e. for the love of fellow humans, because we love you, Jesus, and the Father, and You the Son, and also the Holy Spirit, in sum God in three Persons, and the Son of God became man for love of mankind. So, and I am also ready to marry a woman because that is a work of charity, in particular when she is also lonely etc. What do you folks here say?
Lonely Christian widow in search of a man with lots of money and a fishing boat. Please send bank account number and a picture of the fishing boat.
I have three homes and 15 plus million Philippine pesos. If and when we have gotten married, we will have two places to live, in the US and in the Philippines. What do you say?
Well, you are lonely for a fishing boat. So, that is not the kind of charity I would be dispensing and I care for a woman to be dispensing to me. But, we can talk about God, and my keen interest is that God existing is obvious from man's thinking on truths, facts, logic, and the history or ideas. By the way, if ever you visit the Philippines, let me know, I can help you see the country; but sorry, no fishing boat to take you around the 75 hundred islands.
I never eat in any kamayan eatery. And I don't think I like the idea at all, even just the idea. I find it unhygienic and unsanitary and messy. On the other hand, I don't regard in any adverse attitude peoples in my country eating, by bringing food to their mouth with their bare hands and fingers. In fact, one would have to take more trouble and time to come across an eatery that caters to folks wanting to eat the kamayan way. Of course there are foods we eat with our bare hands and fingers, like sandwiches and biscuits and also roasted peanuts, and some fruits like apple and pear. And also fried chicken should be eaten with bare hands and fingers. But in these instances, the situation is not similar to the kamayan practice. So, I guess I deserve to be reproached for acting queasy with the kamayan way of food intake. ______________________ What about about taking up what should be a more pressing concern with us senior citizens? Let us all senior citizens think of the need for us to organize ourselves into a new ethnic class, in which the healthy active and wealthy members will take care of their indigent, frail, and close to demise colleagues. I am planning to start to a new thread on that idea.
For folks interested in my idea of a new ethnic class for us senior citizens, please proceed to here.
In today's American society, most seniors I know, shudder at the thought of living with their children. Been there, done that, when they were growing up. Frankly, I live in a senior living complex, but am very independent, see people on my terms and am happy as a lark.
{quote starts} Sheldon Scott said: ↑ Have you ever wondered what all the gods did with their time before they created the universe? @Sheldon Scott Intangible and imponderable concept beyond human comprehension. Frank {quote ends} "Beyond human comprehension"? Tell me, what is beyond human comprehension with this concept of God, as follows: "In concept God is the creator cause of man and the universe and everything with a beginning." What words in the statement above do you not comprehend? If you have words above in my statement of the concept of God, pray, let me know about them, and we will work together for us to arrive at concurrence on their meanings, is that all right with you?
