I used to do this in the summer all the time in the past few years but for some reason I forgot about it, I even had a special diffuser bottle, I probably still have it just have to look for it. I didn't make them complicated and didn't overload it with too much fruit but I do remember cucumber, lemon and mint being a good combination. I sometimes also used those frozen mixed berries. They were so refreshing and pretty and just a nice way to cool off in the 100+ temps we get in Fresno. An email I got from Pinterest just reminded me of them and I will start doing it again. Here's some ideas I just googled and they're from Buzzfeed. https://www.buzzfeed.com/melissaharrison/fruit-infused-waters?utm_term=.vugRz9VPJg#.hqxbpj5k12
We have lemon and lime trees around the house. When there is a harvest, I would be using the lime to fortify my drinking water. I have a big drinking bottle that I bring to the office. Remember that I have kidney stones so I have to drink more water than the normal consumption. I still have to use mint, we have that in the garden too, but it's always lime or lemon for my flavoring. But unlike the glass in the picture, I just put some lemon drops in the bottle of water in the morning before I leave for work.
I don't have lemon or lime trees in my yard but many people do around here, especially lemon. Since I don't go to work I like to use the slices and real fruit or herbs because it looks more appealing especially in 109 degrees. I've never had kidney stones but know a few people who have and after one painful experience id be drinking as much water as possible.
My wife does that a lot, usually with lemons but often with strawberries, blackberries, and other fruits.
It's so much better than plain water and I use tap water in Fresno. Our water isn't bad tasting but this just adds a little extra to it.
