I used to use the phrase "girls just want to have fun" but as I got older, there seemed to be less and less fun in my life. I think that is pretty normal, but when "fun" actually happens, without me looking for it, it is pretty, uplifting. I do understand everyone has their own ideas or preferences that they see as "fun" to them. Mine is basically anything that will make me laugh, laughing is fun, and sometimes something exciting is fun, and it makes me laugh too, or just a "wooooooo hoooooo" kind of moment! Yesterday I had a fun moment, totally unexpected. It left me with an urge to spend a lot more time going to the market I was shopping in the produce section for a bag of shelled peanuts, found them, and started off to the check-stand. I was headed into a sharp right turn and noticed a very, tall man headed in the opposite direction. I'd say he was at least a foot taller than I, and I could see he didn't see me at all. Just before I would complete my turn I just stopped dead in my tracks so we wouldn't collide. He made the turn and stopped just in time so my nose (the part of me that sticks out the furthest) sort of smooshed into his chest! I burst into laughter and so did he, both in masks of course, but we were having fun laughing and talking, total strangers, but I thought about that for the whole, ride home. Wouldn't turn down more laughter in my life, and someone that can laugh as well, with me
What you have described is the biggest reason to get out of the house and do something...anything. You never know what is going to happen. We had a saying in the service when bored. Let's go out and do something, even if it's wrong.
Right now, the only fun I have is playing on the computer. The laughs I get are from the funny cartoons, etc.
You are so right Ed I've gotten in a bad habit of only going out if I have to, even before covid. I will be working towards more of that, and already today had a great walk with my little dog. I got to talk to a neighbor who drove in, in his new car, which was fun, and really happy for him because he like me, is on a fixed income so he really took his time and shopped around.
Fun? How about, after not being there since Dec. 2006, flying to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo. Wife and I are very serious rodeo fans. Didn't go to the rodeo, but did enjoy watching it on big screen tv. Being in Vegas was fun, but totally shocking at the same time. Vegas sure has changed! Then, the last night there, playing a few $1 slot machines, wife and I came up with close to $600, without losing a dime. Last time we went to a country-western restaurant/nightclub was in February 2020, so, for my wife's birthday, at this end of this month, we will be headed to a restaurant/nightclub close to us. They serve a great prime rib and I haven't had prime rib in two years. AND, will be wearing our masks into and out of the place, but, obviously, not while eating. Looking very forward to this night!
