Hi..... I have a slight problem with my G-mail address book.. I have several names in my address book that I would like to delete.. How do I go about doing that ?? I open up G-mail, go to compose, left click on .. to.., and I get the list of people in my address book.. Well, how do delete some of them from there ?? Many names there that are not wanted any more..
Hope this does the trick: Delete contacts Go to Google Contacts. Select one of the following: A single contact: Check the box next to the contact name. Multiple contacts: Check the boxes next to all the contacts you want to delete. All contacts: Check the box next to any contact. At the top left, click the Down arrow All. At the top, click More Delete Delete. Your contacts will be moved to Trash, where they'll stay for 30 days before they’re deleted forever. To delete a contact permanently, go to "Trash," select the contact, then click Delete forever.
Thanks for the advice, …… BUT.... I tried it and I didn't have that arrow you mentioned.. Top left is nothing.. Other than the option to choose all.. Not the word … more... at all.. Hmm, I tried but to no success.. Do you have any other suggestions ??
Steve, I don't have a down arrow, either. But when you highlight the contact with your cursor, you should see three vertical dots at the far right. Click on that for more options, including delete.
I tried highlighting but there isn't any 3 dots anywhere.. 3 dots on the bottom of the e-mail, but there isn't any.... delete ...
Here is a screenshot, @Steve North . I circled the parts and numbered the steps for you to delete the contacts you no longer want. I think that you might be trying to delete them from your email page , and you have to do it from your google contacts page, not the email page. Edit to add: deleted screenshot because it contained personal information.
Thanks Yvonne but my G-mail isn't quite like that.. I do no have the menu you have under "create contacts".. Nowhere do I have the word …. contacts... other than in my e-mail.. Again, no dots like you have.. All I have is … compose .. which is what brings me to the address book and the e-mail section.. Then I left click on .. to.. and I get my names of the people with a box on the left... No other dots or options are there.. I was also wondering if I could get into the edit area if there wouldn't be an option to delete.. How do I get into the edit area ??
@Steve North , you need to completely LEAVE your Gmail to do this. Click on the link that is posted above (by @Trevalius Guyus ), and that link will take you to your page with your contacts. Here is the link again that you need to click to get to your contacts page: https://contacts.google.com/ Once you get to the contacts page, you will see that it is totally different from the G-mail page, and should look similar to what my contacts page looks like (from my screenshot).
THANK-YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH..... it worked perfectly..... all done... I deleted all those that I no longer want.... Oops...…. how do I get into my all list ??? I still have several that I want to delete in there.. This seems to only do the regular list.... NEVER MIND...……… I WORKED IT OUT AND I DID IT...… THANKS...
You were 100% right that I was in the mail and not in the contacts section.. I put an icon on my desktop so in future I can access it again.. I put the icon in a folder that contains other computer information.. I guess from there I can also edit the information regarding the contacts...
@Steve North -- Glad you got it sorted out. Just FYI, you can access the contacts from your email screen. Look in the upper right-hand corner next to the Settings icon (little gear). There are 9 little dots in a square, which opens Google Apps when you click on it. Contacts is one of the apps.
Thanks again everyone.... you guys weren't just good …….…… you were great ..!!!! As far as those square of dots goes, that is where I go to get the latest news as well.. I never realised that I could do it from there.. Again thanks for the information..
