We often eat breakfast at about 7.30 am and will have a very low calorie rice biscuit 1/2 of one each at about 10 am with a cuppa ( our morning tea) Then not eat again till 5 pm ..unless my blood sugar drops then I may have just one slice of bread. Maybe you need a tiny bit of carbs in your diet Steve? as our bodies change with age and low sugar can be dangerous as I’m sure your dear wife would be fully aware of due to diabetes ( I believe you said at some time Annemarie no longer has the condition) I to beat it by loosing weight / low carb diet….however I still eat some carbs …wisely I need it for energy.
Kate, i love your new Avatar, my father and brother had diabetes, as does my sister,But i do not and nor did my mother ever have diabetes,, but anyway i, Diabetes is usually is carried into familys.. Aut i recall my sister telling me that if she feels her blood sugar has dropped she will take a small piece of hard candy to bring it back up .,.. she needed the sugar!!, so kate i wonder if the bread you eat is Cinnamon bread? what kind of bread do you eat to bring your sugar back to norm.?? or is there sugar in white bread ?, , i m not sure ,,
I buy a low GI / high fibre white loaf ( meaning it releases sugar into your system slowly ) where some foods give you a quick “hit “ so your sugar go”s up through the roof …then drops way to low causing BS levels to be like a Yo Yo ….. Not good for your Heath …in fact it can be very dangerous I buy my bread from a specialty bakery in Adelaide who makes it fresh everyday ….7 days a week @Louise Miller This is what I buy … https://www.bakersdelight.com.au/products/hi-fibre-lo-gi-white-block-loaf/ Candy or something sweet is a option for a quick fix ….but most still need to eat a food that will normalise sugar Usually some sort of slow release food like a high fibre food ( bread ). I never understood being told I had diabetes cause I’d never had any highs …just low levels most of my life
I am not on low carb but actually I try to consume as many carbs as possible.. I am also not on a low calorie diet either.. A toasted sandwich of lots of peanut-butter and strawberry jam is a good snack for me.. A toasted bagel with loads of butter is also good.. Honey-nut cheerios with heavy cream.. Just to give you an idea of what I am consuming.. This is above my regular meals.. Annmarie had diabetes but after being on low carb for a while, she is now OK with that.. Naturally she watches what she eats.. She doesn't take any pills or medication for that..
Steve, peanut butter and strawberry jam is one of my fav, sammies.!! And glad to hear your wife is also doing well too with her Diabeties.., , My sis is diabetic But my father and brother were diabetics ..seems just me and mother were blessed !!
Louise......... try toasting your peanut-butter and jam sandwich.. much tastier.. It was so cool last night that I had the heat on in the bedroom.. I still have the heat on in the house overnight s the temperature drops down to below freezing.. Someone has mentioned the word .................. summer............. Yeah, when ??? It is still too early to plant anything in the garden.. Usually the first week-end in June is when we plant...
Not many games tonight.. We had another incident involving my wife Annmarie this time............................. Not good !!! I will tell you all about it tomorrow.. She is doing much better now and she is home from the hospital... Whoever said that getting old is boring............... WOW !!!!
im so sorry to hear that news, Steve .. Hope and pray that she will heal fast,. Kate i just might give it a try, but will have to wait a While for my tomato plant to grow me some tomatoes. no flowers yet so it may be awhile before i can try it,,
