I guess I would need to use that 5 bucks I've saved over the years. Joking aside they would not let SS go unpaid and would pass an emergency payment until an agreement is settled. Same as our defense funding, it does not shut down, only federal parks and various other things which by the way they love to put the cops out on those properties to piss the public off so they might get angry at their leaders, now this has been the democrats strategy over the years.

@Richard Whiting - keep in mind IF that all were to happen, WE all are in this.I doubt very few on here are wealthy enough to carry on for long. Plus if things were that bad all those A-holes would close up shop and go underground to their luxury suites. :D

The same subject came up a few years ago and I’ll write about the same thing I did when it happened before.
If 90 million or so seniors do not get their SS benefit on time, there will be a lot of politicians who will get bodily tossed out of their cushy offices.

Yeah, Obama shut down everything he could, even the stuff not affected by the shortfall just to make people mad.

Bingo. They just like to put on a show, get their “gotcha” sound bites in front of a camera.

I surely do hope you are right. All of those youtube videos, which are talking about what Congress is doing with the budget/debt talks, are scaring the heck out of me. Much talk about delayed SSA payments .

I have never liked the Republicans simply because they are all independents wearing the same suit, same tie and same hat. They have no unity and will turn on one another faster that a fly on stink. I prefer to judge everyone running for office but honestly the democrats haven't shown me anyone worthy of my vote since JFK and I was too young to vote then. I think everyone already knew what was in store if they got the house back so this is no surprise at all. If they could think out of the box and play the same dirty games the democrats do then they might have a better chance at retaining the power if for a short time. The only good speaker they had was Newt but following him the rest were pathetic. It was plain to me this new speaker was a weasel while Trump was in office, you could listen to the scheming in his voice. When the "last" depression hits again and all of us are eating out of a community pot maybe the nation will come together again. I seriously doubt that also simply because we have so many foreigners here for the money they will never be part of the nation but only taking everything a politician wants to take from us and give to them.

Keep in mind that the Republicans have the media against them, and most (R) voters have unrealistic expectations and their litmus tests. And Democrats in-fight, too. We just never hear about it.

With a few genuine exceptions, Republicans reserve their core issues for voicing in front of a microphone but rarely act on them even when they have the majority in both houses and the administrative branch. Rather than stopping the Democrats when they do something horrible, they view it merely as a talking point to be used in a campaign. This is why I am not a Republican. They have a good platform but they refuse to stand on it. I hope they'll hold fast, and I always hope they'll hold fast, but they never do.

@Richard Whiting, you really should stop watching those YouTube videos.

Generally speaking, I vote according to whatever the most important issues of the day are. I voted FOR Jimmy Carter in 1976 because of Water Gate. I voted AGAINST Jimmy Carter in 1980 because he failed to get the Iranian hostages out.

The issues of the day are those that the mainstream media promotes.

Is there anyone who thinks the monthly SSA payments NOT go out on time ? I you think not, why not ?
If you think they WILL go out on time ? IF so, WHY do you think so ?
