As I was thinking yesterday about upcoming family birthdays, it hit me that mailing cards in the mail has gone by the wayside. Does anyone else send holiday, birthday or other greeting cards anymore? Have we all gone the electronic route? .... I miss the "old days", of a few years back. Just wondering ...
I only send cards to the younger grandsons in Illinois. And the only other person I send a card to is my mother for her bday and Christmas. Oh, I forgot that I do send bday card to sisters and my son. Will send a card to daughter but only if I'm not there in person but I usually am. Oh, I forgot Mother's Day, send my mom and daughter and DIL one. Oh, Father's Day to my son and SIL. Hmmmm, looks like I send more than I thought.
We still send a few. The younger grandkids and great grandkids get a card with a twenty dollar bill inside.
My wife sends out Christmas cards each year, but doesn't get as many as she sends out back. She also has a couple of boxes of Get Well and Happy Birthday cards that she will send out sometimes. I will go to a Hallmark store and buy her a Birthday card, that always makes her cry when she reads it. Guess I pick the right ones. She will also get me a Birthday card at Hallmark as well and it always puts a big smile on my face. For the last couple years for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we will send a card to each other from online. Yep, just like the old GPS that people use to buy to put in their vehicles. Today, the GPS can already be installed or simply use an iPhone for directions.........that's what we do. "Times are a changing" and there nothing that can be done about it. The electronic/high tech days are here now.
I stopped long ago. My few family members are near so we can exchange gifts in person. Otherwise, phone calls and emails are fine. Edited to add: I still mail sympathy cards.
