    For a long while, it has bothered me when TV shows in the U.S. depict bad guys with automatic weapons spraying projectiles all over the place and they are defeated by a couple of good guys with semi-auto handguns with a couple shots. Tonight, while watching a British show, I noticed that they have these crack shot riflemen who hold the stock of the rifle under their armpit but can still hit a rapidly moving target in center of the forehead, in the dark , and from 500 meters away. It creates unrealistic expectations of what weapons can do.

    Speaking of kicks, in many, not all but many, "shootings," there is no recoil kickback, even in top-rated Westerns.

    @Boris Boddenov

    Speaking of shotgun "kick", or recoil, how many know that if the stock of a shotgun is held against a fairly immovable object, like a tree, and the weapon fired, the recoil will likely BREAK the stock?

    I have seen it happen, @Frank Sanoica when I was a boy, but not for many years.
