In one viewing, beginning to end? Twice. The first time in a movie theater in the late 1960's.

It was Ted Turner's favorite movie, so he would have GWTW marathons on his cable channel at least twice a year for several years. Some favorite parts I've seen enough times to have the dialogue memorized.

Does anyone have a favorite scene?

Probably not more than twice, but at least twice.

I'm sure I've seen it several times when it was aired on network TV.
    Same as Wizard of Oz.
Same as Porgy & Bess, except that may have only aired a couple of times.

Oh I'm sure more than twice. Enough to think -- when I saw the book in a Paris train station -- that I could read the book in French because I knew the story so well and had read the book in English a couple times. But alas, when the translation tried to capture the southern accent by leaving out letters in the French words, the way some words in English left out letters or spelled words to attempt the accent, it was trickier than I thought. LOL

That's pretty funny. Having worked for a Japanese, a German and a French company, I cannot imagine them trying to capture American regional dialects in their native tongue. It sounds so "random."

Once I figure out what the weird French words were, it was indeed pretty funny. Imagine Scarlett's and Butterfly McQueen's accented dialogue spoken in French!

Yep! Probably about 10 times. I read the book once.

    Off Topic Alert!!!

When I worked for that French company, we had French Canadians on staff. One of them was Pierre.

We all went out to lunch one day, and when we came back, Carol (the young receptionist) said "Pierre, I have a message for you." She handed him the pink While You Were Out note and it said "Call Bucky's mom."

"Bucky??" he said. "I don't know any Bucky."
Carol said that a woman called, asked for Pierre, and when he was not there, asked to ask him to call Bucky's mom.

So I asked her "Did this woman have an accent?"
    Carol said "Yes."

I asked "A thick French Canadian accent?"
    Carol said "Yes."

I asked "Did she say 'av eem call bucky's mum?"
She said "Yes, just like that."

I said "Right. 'Av eem call Bucky's mum. Have_him_call_back_his_mom."
    "Hey, Pierre! Your mom called!!!"

We shared a good laugh. Call "Bucky's mom," indeed.
